1194 1/31/72 Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the changes in time for the Parking Garages. TRAFFIC ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TRAFFIC REGULATIONS Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board approved the following traffic regulations recommended by the Traffic Engineering Department: No Parking on the East side of the 100 block N. Polk Street for a distance of 2 block south of Colfax. The sings are to read "NO PARKING -COMMERCIAL VEHICLE LOADING ZONE." No parking on the west side of the 1600 block South Twyckenham (between L. W. E. and the Penn Central Tracks.) Such restriction will increase capacity and reduce congestion. A request was received from Clem F. Hazinski, Director Traffic Engineering Department that the City advertise for bids for a 3/4 ton pick-up truck for the Traffic Department. The Clerk was directed to advertise for bids to be returnable on February 14, 1972. LEGAL NOTICE OF PREHEARING CONFERENCE A notice of a prehearing Conference by the Public Service Commission of Indiana in Indianapolis, Indiana at 10:00 A.M. EST on Tuesday, February 15, 1972 in the matter of the petition of Indiana Bell Telephone Company, Inc., for adjustments in rates, was filed with the Board. NOTICE BY INTERSTATE COMMERCE COMMISSION RE- CHICAGO,S_OUTH SHORE AND SOUTH BEND, RAILROAD A notice of a session of the Interstate Commerce Commission, Division 3, held at its office in Washington, D.C. on 19th day of January, 1972 relative to the Chicago, South Shore and South Bend Railroad Restructuring of Passenger Service was filed with the Board. 2ND ANNUAL ST. JOSEPH RIVER RACE Mr. Don Sporleder, President, Michigan Watershed, Inc., filed with the Board a letter informing them that the 2nd Annual St. Joseph River Race - The Canoe Race- will be held on Saturday, May 13, 1972. It is sanctioned by the U.S.C.A. and the date has been confirmed and set in the official listing of dates for official canoe races in 1972. The race will be the 13 miles down river from Leeper Park in South Bend ending at the French Paper Company Dam in Niles, Michigan. A formal request for police assistance and the closing of some streets will follow later. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the date for the River Run. RE: SHIRLEY HUNT - JUNKED CAR The following recommendation was presented by Mr. Sweeney: 1. Mrs. Fleming (of Legal Service) last spoke to Mr. Johnson in July when car was returned to him. 2. Unable to reach Johnson since 3. Not the responsibility of the Board of Public Works and Safety to make Mrs. Hunt's case for her beyond phone attemt to reach Mr. Johnson. 4. Recommend the Board write Mrs. Fleming stat-ing that the auto is registered inMrs. Hunt's name and that the Board, after trying to reach Mr. Johnson, is not in a position to determine whether there is a subsequent owner. Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board directed the clerk write Mrs. Hunt, and Pars. Fleming, informing them of the above.
