1194 <br />1/31/72 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />changes in time for the Parking Garages. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TRAFFIC REGULATIONS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board approved the following traffic <br />regulations recommended by the Traffic Engineering Department: <br />No Parking on the East side of the 100 block N. Polk Street for a <br />distance of 2 block south of Colfax. The sings are to read "NO <br />PARKING -COMMERCIAL VEHICLE LOADING ZONE." <br />No parking on the west side of the 1600 block South Twyckenham <br />(between L. W. E. and the Penn Central Tracks.) Such restriction <br />will increase capacity and reduce congestion. <br />A request was received from Clem F. Hazinski, Director Traffic Engineering <br />Department that the City advertise for bids for a 3/4 ton pick-up truck <br />for the Traffic Department. The Clerk was directed to advertise for bids <br />to be returnable on February 14, 1972. <br />LEGAL NOTICE OF PREHEARING CONFERENCE <br />A notice of a prehearing Conference by the Public Service Commission of <br />Indiana in Indianapolis, Indiana at 10:00 A.M. EST on Tuesday, February 15, <br />1972 in the matter of the petition of Indiana Bell Telephone Company, Inc., <br />for adjustments in rates, was filed with the Board. <br />NOTICE BY INTERSTATE COMMERCE COMMISSION RE- CHICAGO,S_OUTH SHORE AND SOUTH <br />BEND, RAILROAD <br />A notice of a session of the Interstate Commerce Commission, Division 3, held <br />at its office in Washington, D.C. on 19th day of January, 1972 relative to <br />the Chicago, South Shore and South Bend Railroad Restructuring of Passenger <br />Service was filed with the Board. <br />2ND ANNUAL ST. JOSEPH RIVER RACE <br />Mr. Don Sporleder, President, Michigan Watershed, Inc., filed with the Board <br />a letter informing them that the 2nd Annual St. Joseph River Race - The Canoe <br />Race- will be held on Saturday, May 13, 1972. It is sanctioned by the U.S.C.A. <br />and the date has been confirmed and set in the official listing of dates for <br />official canoe races in 1972. The race will be the 13 miles down river from <br />Leeper Park in South Bend ending at the French Paper Company Dam in Niles, <br />Michigan. A formal request for police assistance and the closing of some <br />streets will follow later. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />the Board approved the date for the River Run. <br />RE: SHIRLEY HUNT - JUNKED CAR <br />The following recommendation was presented by Mr. Sweeney: <br />1. Mrs. Fleming (of Legal Service) last spoke to Mr. Johnson <br />in July when car was returned to him. <br />2. Unable to reach Johnson since <br />3. Not the responsibility of the Board of Public Works and Safety <br />to make Mrs. Hunt's case for her beyond phone attemt to reach <br />Mr. Johnson. <br />4. Recommend the Board write Mrs. Fleming stat-ing that the <br />auto is registered inMrs. Hunt's name and that the Board, after <br />trying to reach Mr. Johnson, is not in a position to determine <br />whether there is a subsequent owner. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board directed the clerk write <br />Mrs. Hunt, and Pars. Fleming, informing them of the above. <br />
