185 <br />1/24/72 <br />Upon motion made seconded and unanimously carried, the Board granted the <br />request for two fire instructors to attend the Fire Department Fire <br />Department Instructors Conference, in Kansas City, Missouri, March 14-17, 1972. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Mr. Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Division Director, appeared before the <br />Board and the following matters were discussed: <br />702 East Keasey Street Peter F. Nemeth, Attorney for Irene L. Tappan and <br />the St. Joseph County W,0 fare Department not having appeared as requested, <br />upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards <br />Director was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the structure <br />at 702 East Keasey Street. <br />827 S. Rush Street Mr. Liszewski asked that a two weeks extension of tire <br />be granted Gail E. Rush, et al. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board granted Mr. Liszewski's request and granted two weeks extension <br />on the above structure. <br />133-135 South Laurel Street Theodore C. & Ruth E. Schultz not having <br />appeared as requested, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />_1H the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for the demolition <br />r-I of the structure at 133-135 South Laurel Street. <br />10 <br />w 1504 Swygart Street Mr. Liszewski informed the Board that a building per- <br />mit had been obtained to repair the structure at 1504 Swygart Street, and <br />he requested a continuance on this project. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried the Board continued the matter of 1504 Swygart Street for four <br />weeks. <br />1525 South Catalpa Street Charles W. Hahn, Trustee not having appeared <br />as requested, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for the demolition <br />of the structure at 1525 South Catalpa Street. <br />516 West Indiana Street Mr. Liszewski informed the Board that the owners <br />of the property at 516 West Indiana Street were going to demolish the <br />structure themselves. Mr. Liszewski was instructed to keep the property <br />under surveillance. <br />1813 Robinson Street The matter of the sub -standard condition of the <br />subject property having been continued till this date, upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek <br />bids for the demolition of 1813 Robinson Street structure. <br />1613 South Carroll Street This being the date set, a bid for demolition <br />of the following property were opened. Non -collusion affidavits were <br />found to be in proper order. Bids were as follows: <br />Machinery Supply Company $525.00 <br />O'Neal Trucking Company 500.00 <br />Waimco 734.00 <br />Vanek Excavating Company 446.00 <br />The City Attorney, acting, ruled that the non -collusion affidavit on the <br />Vanek bid was not in proper order, and it was therefore rejected. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, contract for demolition of the structure <br />at 1613 South Carroll Street was awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company on its low <br />bid of $500.00. <br />J. Davis of the A. & J. Salvage , now Machinery Supply Company, appeared before <br />the Board to ask on what basis bids were accepted or rejected. He complained <br />about a low bid that was not accepted because he was behind in his contract for <br />demolition. Mr. Liszewski explained to the Board that Mr. Davis was to have <br />demolished a building in 30 days and the building is not yet down. Mr. Davis <br />informed the Board that his machinery had been in the shop for repairs, but he <br />hoped to return to "the Demolition project shortly. <br />736 North Francis Street Mr. Wallace Mitchell appeared before the Board with a <br />proposal for putting the above structure in habitable shape. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board continued the matter until March 1, 1972, with <br />Mr. Mitchell to make progress reports every two weeks. <br />
