I124 <br />11/15/71 <br />requested to notify the owner of these buildings to appear before the Board <br />on November 22, 1971, to show cause, if any they have, why these buildings <br />should not be demolished. <br />1350 E. Sorin Street. Mr. Liszewski reported he has been unable to reach <br />the attorney for the owner of this property; that the structure has been <br />damaged by fire but is presently secured and is not an immediate hazard. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of 1350 E. Sorin Street <br />was continued one week. <br />WEIGHTS AND MEASURES DEPARTMENT-.00TOBER, 1971 REPORT <br />Report of the Weights and Measures Department for October, 1971, was reviewed <br />and ordered filed. <br />ASSESSMENT ROLL HEARING - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3347 - BENEDICT J. BARCZYKOWSKI <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll in Vacation <br />Resolution No. 3347, 1971, for the vacation of the first east -west alley <br />north of Huron Street from the west line of Carlisle Street west to the east <br />line of the first north -south alley. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri County News which were found to be sufficient. No remonstrators <br />having appeared and no written remonstrances having been received, upon motion <br />made, seconded and unanimously carried, the assessment roll showing no net <br />damages and no net benefits was approved as adopted and said Resolution in all <br />things ratified and confirmed and said proceedings closed. <br />PETITION TO VACATE MONROE STREET - DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT <br />The Department of Redevelopment, 1200 County City Building, South Bend, Indiana, <br />by Bill Slabaugh, files its petition to vacate Monroe -Street from Rush Street <br />to Lincolnway East. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition was <br />referred, simultaneously, to the Engineering Department and the Area Plan <br />Commission for study and recommendation to the Board. <br />COMMUNICATION re: LOOSE DOGS - PERLEY SCHOOL <br />A communication was,read from Myron D. Weldy, Principal, Perley School, <br />740 N. Eddy Street,.South Bend, Indiana, reporting that a dog on the Perley <br />School playground, on November 8, 1971, bit seven different children before <br />it could be tied up and asking that something be done to control dogs from <br />running loose. The letter was referred to the Humane Society with the <br />request that they make every effort to correct this kind of a situation. <br />REQUEST TO ERECT CHRISTMAS TREE ENCROACHING SIDEWALK - GILBERT'S STORE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request of the South Bend Neon Company, 215 W. Garst Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, to erect a Christmas tree on the parking lot of Gilbert's Store <br />which will extend over the sidewalk seven feet on condition that they <br />provide the Board with a certificate of insurance to hold the City harmless. <br />CIVIL DEFENSE HANDBOOK <br />Don Germann, Civil Defense Director, provides the Board with copies of <br />Civil Defense handbooks, containing instructions what to do in case of <br />disasters, such as floods, tornado, fire, blizzards, etc. <br />STREET LIGHT REQUEST - COLPAERT REALTY CORPORATION <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Colpaert Realty <br />Corporation for street lights at Clearview Place and Redbud Lane, Summit <br />Drive and Redbud Lane and midway between Summit Drive and Clearview Place <br />was referred to the Traffic Engineering Department for study and <br />recommendation. <br />
