123 <br />November 15, 1971 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M., with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were <br />reviewed and approved. <br />BIDS OPENED - REMODELING INFORMATION CONTROL CENTER - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for remodeling the information <br />control center of the Police Department at 701 W. Sample Street the Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were received: <br />H. G. Christman Construction Company, Inc., 850 S. Fellows Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, 46624. The bid was accompanied by a non collusion affidavit <br />and bid bond in the amount of 10% of the bid which were found to be proper. <br />Total bid---------------------$2,720.00 <br />Harry H. Verkler, Contractor, Inc., 645 N. Wilber Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, 46628. The bid was accompanied by a non collusion affidavit to- <br />gether with a bid bond in the amount of 10% of the bid which were found to <br />be proper. <br />r-I <br />M Total bid---------------------$2,685.00 <br />;14 <br />U06h mofl on,:made,-seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the <br />Police Department for study and recommendation to the Board. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - PROMOTIONS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried; the f6flowi-ng promotions were <br />.approved upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat: <br />Lieutenant Eugene Rozwarski - to the rank of captain <br />Fireman Greg F. Conery - to the rank of lieutenant <br />effective November 16, 1971. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - ADDITIONAL SICK LEAVE APPROVED - LEO S. BANACKI <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, an additional 30 days sick leave <br />from November 15, 1971, was approved for Captain Leo S. Banacki, upon the <br />recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat. Lloyd S. Taylor abstained <br />from voting. <br />F.IRE'DEPARTMENT':- APPOINTMENTS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the following <br />appointments to the Police Department effective 11/16/71: <br />David J. Bailey <br />Jerry D. Stults <br />David I. Taylor <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - STATISTICAL REPORTS <br />Statistical reports for October, 1971, were reviewed and ordered filed. <br />APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER - RICHARD H. GROVER <br />Upon motion made, -seconded and carried, the application of Richard H. Grover <br />for appointment as a special police officer at the Dutchman Restaurant was <br />referred to the Legal Department for recommendation to the Board. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and <br />the following matters were taken up. <br />613-615-617 W. LaSalle Avenue. Mr. Liszewski reports these three structures <br />vandalized and all heating units missing. The Sub -Standards Director was <br />
