.116 <br />November 1, 1971. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M., November 1, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - PROMOTIONS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the following promotions were <br />approved upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police, effective November 1, <br />1971: <br />Officer David Hatala - to the rank of corporal <br />Officer Terry Hough - to the rank of corporal <br />Officer Harold Grounds - to the rank of corporal <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT —ADVERTISE FOR BIDS TO REMODEL INFORMATION CONTROL CENTER <br />November 15, 1971, is set as the date for receiving bids for the remodeling <br />of the Police` Department°information control center at 701 W. Sample Street, <br />and the Clerk is directed to give notice by publication in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri County News on November 5 and November 122 1971. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />1033 Hudson Street. Mrs. Norma H. Reuter, owner of 1033 Hudson Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Board and stated that they do not want the <br />building demolished and are rehabilitating the building. Mrs. Reuter was <br />advised demolition bids are to be opened November'8, 1971, and the matter will <br />be reviewed at that time but that substantial repairs must be made within the <br />week. <br />1600 block Western Avenue. Mr. Jerry Davis, 3608 Western Avenue, South Bend, <br />Indiana, appeared before the Board on behalf of the Western Avenue Business <br />Council which is interested in upgrading the 1600 block of Western Avenue. <br />The Sub -Standards Director is requested to contact Mr. Davies regarding <br />apparent sub -standard properties in the area, and to provide the Board with a <br />status report. <br />ST. JOSEPH COUNTY LANDFILL <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the City Engineer was <br />authorized to make application to the St. Joseph County Auditor for charge <br />accounts at the St. Joseph County Landfill for solid waste disposal by the <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Water Works, the Street Department and the <br />Sanitation Department. <br />HOUSE MOVE APPROVED - TO 1616 KNOBLOCK:'.STREET <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the removal of a house from <br />4011 Lincolnway West to 1616 Knoblock Street, was approved upon the recommendation <br />of the Building Commissioner. Gene Fodge, 1505 N. Chicago, Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, owner of the house, appeared to request its removal. <br />STORM WATER RETENSION BASIN (LAGOON E) - CRESTWOOD GARDENS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />report and recommendation of the City Engineer for the construction of a <br />storm water retention basin (Lagoon E)-in Crestwood Gardens, south of Edison <br />Road between Edison Park and McKinley Terrace Additions. <br />Upon motion further made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />an appropriation of $36,000.00 from the cumulative sewer building and sinking <br />fund for such Lagoon E, and directed the preparation of an appropriate <br />ordinance for the consideration of the Common Council. <br />PETITION TO VACATE A PORTION OF LONGLEY AVENUE AND TWO ALLEYS - SOUTH BEND <br />COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION <br />The South Bend Community School Corporation, 635 S.
