<br />REQUEST TO SELL PACKAGED CANDY - NORTHERN INDIANA CENTER OF THE BLIND
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of
<br />John Janssens, 1229 W. Bruce Street, South Bend, Indiana,"on behalf of the
<br />Northern Indiana Center of the Blind to sell approximately 300 boxes of
<br />candy, commencing October 26, 1971, and continuing until all boxes are sold.
<br />REQUEST FOR USE OF SANITATION TRUCKS . MICHIANA ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Thomas Poulson, Vice President of Michiana Environmental Council,
<br />Box 755, South Bend, Indiana, for the use of four sanitation trucks on
<br />November 6, 1971, between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M., for the
<br />collection of bottles and cans for recycling in connection with its "Clean -In"
<br />project, said trucks to be used in the city of South Bend only.
<br />REQUEST TO SELL PACKAGED POPCORN - KIWANIS CLUB.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of the Kiwanis Club, by Loyal R. Bare, 2018 Mishawaka Avenue, South
<br />Bend, Indiana, for permission to sell packaged popcorn in the downtown area
<br />at the corner of Michigan and Jefferson Streets and at Michigan and Wayne
<br />Streets.
<br />REQUEST OF AVENUE RADIO SHOP TO HOLD TRUCK LOAD SALE
<br />Further connunication from the Avenue Radio Shop in reference to parking a
<br />truck in front of its place of business for a "truck load sale" November 10
<br />to November 15, 1971, was referred to the Legal Department for review.
<br />MRS. LEE SWAN - COMMUNICATION
<br />Copy of a letter from Mrs. Lee Swan, 2022 S. Swygart Avenue, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />addressed to Police Chief Loren Bussert, Board of Public Works and Safety,
<br />Mr. Donald Dake, Superintendent of Schools and the South Bend Tribune, in
<br />reference to the disturbance at Riley High School on October 18, 1971, was
<br />ordered filed.
<br />COMMUNICATION - KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS RE: MUSICAL PRODUCTION "HAIR"
<br />A letter objecting to the showing of the Musical Production "Hair" from
<br />George W. Stevens, Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus, 817 N. Michigan Street,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, was read and ordered filed.
<br />STREET LIGHTING APPROVED
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the following street light-
<br />ing, as recommended by the Traffic Engineering Department, was approved by
<br />the Board:
<br />Area roughly bounded by Hartzer, Johnson, Longly and Bendix - the
<br />removal of 29 old lights and installation of 36 lights at an added cost
<br />of $54J O per month.
<br />Area roughly bounded by Lincolnway West Bendix Ardmore and Sheridan -
<br />the removal of 30 old lights and the installation of 42 lights at an
<br />added cost of $79.90 per month.
<br />Annexed area roughly bounded by Ewing, Olive, Prairie and Kaley
<br />Streets - the insta$lation of 12 7000L MV OH WP lights at a cost of
<br />$45.00 per month.
<br />Angela Street modernization - the installation of 12 street lights and
<br />the removal of 9 street lights on Angela Boulevard, from North Shore
<br />Drive to Michigan Street, at an added cost of $40.05 per month.
<br />Jefferson Boulevard modernization, from Greenlawn to 26th Street - the
<br />installation of 23 street lights and the removal of 8 lights, at an
<br />increased cost of $130.10 per month.
