BOROWSKI <br />A communication from Paul Barowski, 3217 Cabot Drive, South Bend, Indiana, <br />complaining of police escorts for busses at football games was read and <br />ordered filed. The matter will be looked into. <br />REQUEST TO INSTALL PLANTERS ON MISHAWAKA AVENUE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request of Brian Kotoske, 1612 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, 46615, <br />on behalf of businessmen on Mishawaka Avenue, between Esther Street and <br />Twyckenham Drive, to install decorative planters in front of their places <br />of business on Mishawaka Avenue on condition that the merchants provide, by <br />way of insurance, indemnification to the City of South Bend against any claim <br />.which might arise by reason of the presence of such planters on the sidewalk. <br />REQUEST TO SELL POPCORN DOWNTOWN SIDEWALKS - KIWANIS CLUB <br />Action by the Board on the request of the Kiwanis Club, by Loyal R. Bare, <br />2018 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, for permission to sell pre -packaged <br />popcorn on the sidewalk at Michigan and Jefferson and at Michigan and Wayne <br />Streets on�November 6, 1971, was postponed for further information. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD "TRUCKLOAD SALE" <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Orville Tallman, Avenue <br />Radio Shop, 1518 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, for permission to <br />park a trailer in front of its store for the purpose of a "truckload sale" <br />was denied for the -reason that selling in a public right of way is prohibited <br />by City ordinance. <br />PARKING RESTRICTION APPROVED - IRELAND ROAD <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the recommendation of the <br />Traffic Engineering Department was approved to ban parking on both sides of <br />Ireland Road, between Michigan and Miami Streets, to the east edge of the <br />Broadmoor Shopping Center only. <br />TARIFF - S.L.C. CONTRACT APPROVED - MONROE STREET <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved Tariff - <br />S.C.L. Contract with Indiana and Michigan Electric Company for Monroe Street <br />from Main Street to Lincolnway East, for one year commencing October 18, 1971, <br />and was referred to the Traffic Engineering Department for the signature of <br />Indiana and Michigan Electric Company. <br />STREET LIGHTING APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department as follows: <br />Monroe Street, from Michigan to Lincolnway east - Removal of 12 street lights <br />and the replacement of 35 street lights, at an added cost of $228.60 per month. <br />Ewing and Twyckenham - Install one 20,000L MV UG CP street light on the northeast <br />corner, at an increased cost of $1.75 per month. <br />Topswood Lane - Install three 7000L MV Traditionaire fixtures, at a cost of <br />$19.05 per month. <br />EXCAVATION BOND TERMINATED - EUGENE STATZER <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the termination of <br />Excavation Bond No. B380255 for Eugene Statzer, as requested by Reliance In- <br />surance Company, for all work done on and after November 1, 1971. <br />
