October 18, 1971 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A. M., on October 18, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. FIRE DEPARTMENT - DISABILITY PENSION RICHARD TAYLOR Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for a total disability pension for fireman Richard Taylor, effective October 18, 1971. FIRE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for the following transfers of funds: $800.00 from Account Q-12 (drivers and scuba divers, _recall and holiday pay) to Account Q-221 (electric current); and $300.00 from Account Q-12 (drivers and scuba divers, recall and holiday pay) to Account Q-224 (water). The Legal Department was requested to prepare ordinances -for the con- sideration of the Common Council. POLICE DEPARTMENT - STATISTICAL REPORT Statistical report of the Police Department for September, 1971, was reviewed and ordered filed. APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS Action on the applications of Carrie Virginia Jones and Robert Gammage for appointment as special police officers at Robertson's and Groceteria, respectively, was deferred for further recommendation from the Police Department. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up: 315 Parkovash. Mr. Liszewski reports this property sold and the new owner will rehabilitate at. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of 315 Parkovash was continued eight weeks. 613-615-617 W. LaSalle. Mr. Liszewski reports this property is in an estate and is expected to be sold. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of 613-615-617 W. LaSalle Street was continued four weeks. Demolition bids opened: This being the date set, bids were opened for demolition of the following properties. Non collusion affidavits were examined and found to be proper. The Bids were as follows: 2001 S. Brookfield. O'Neal Trucking Company $435.00 Midwest Demolition Corporation $314.00 B & J Demolition Company $340.00 Upon motion made, seconded and carried, contract for demolition of the structure at 2001 S. Brookfield was awarded to Midwest Demolition Company on its low bid of $314.00.• 2601 W. Lawton. O'Neal Trucking Company $335.00 Midwest Demolition Company $289.00 8 & J Demolition Company $329.00
