October 18, 1971 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A. M., on October 18, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - DISABILITY PENSION RICHARD TAYLOR <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for a total disability pension <br />for fireman Richard Taylor, effective October 18, 1971. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for the following transfers of funds: <br />$800.00 from Account Q-12 (drivers and scuba divers, _recall <br />and holiday pay) to Account Q-221 (electric current); and <br />$300.00 from Account Q-12 (drivers and scuba divers, recall and <br />holiday pay) to Account Q-224 (water). <br />The Legal Department was requested to prepare ordinances -for the con- <br />sideration of the Common Council. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - STATISTICAL REPORT <br />Statistical report of the Police Department for September, 1971, was reviewed <br />and ordered filed. <br />APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS <br />Action on the applications of Carrie Virginia Jones and Robert Gammage for <br />appointment as special police officers at Robertson's and Groceteria, <br />respectively, was deferred for further recommendation from the Police Department. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION <br />Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up: <br />315 Parkovash. Mr. Liszewski reports this property sold and the new owner will <br />rehabilitate at. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of 315 <br />Parkovash was continued eight weeks. <br />613-615-617 W. LaSalle. Mr. Liszewski reports this property is in an estate and <br />is expected to be sold. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of <br />613-615-617 W. LaSalle Street was continued four weeks. <br />Demolition bids opened: <br />This being the date set, bids were opened for demolition of the following <br />properties. Non collusion affidavits were examined and found to be proper. The <br />Bids were as follows: <br />2001 S. Brookfield. <br />O'Neal Trucking Company $435.00 <br />Midwest Demolition Corporation $314.00 <br />B & J Demolition Company $340.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, contract for demolition of the <br />structure at 2001 S. Brookfield was awarded to Midwest Demolition Company on <br />its low bid of $314.00.• <br />2601 W. Lawton. <br />O'Neal Trucking Company $335.00 <br />Midwest Demolition Company $289.00 <br />8 & J Demolition Company $329.00 <br />
