<br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER -
<br />ROBERT A. HEICK, JR.
<br />Action by the Board on the application of Robert A. Hei,ck, Jr. for appoint-
<br />ment as a special police officer was deferred for further information re-
<br />garding his duties with Pinkertons, Inc.
<br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION
<br />Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the '
<br />following matters were taken up.
<br />318 W. Madison Street. Mr. Liszewski reported the accessory building at
<br />31W. Madison Street has now been demolished by the owner.°
<br />534 E. Broadway Street. Mr. Liszewski reported the property in question is 524
<br />E. Broadway owned by Portage Realty Company and not 534 E. Broadway owned by
<br />George M. and Sally English. Thereupon, the Sub -Standards Director was re-
<br />quested to notify the Portage Realty Company to appear before the Board on
<br />August 9, 1971, in reference to',:the structure at 524 E. Broadway Street.
<br />644 Diamond Avenue. Neither Ernest R. nor Marlene Benner appeared as requested.
<br />Mr. Liszewski reported the property is now vacant. Upon motion made, seconded
<br />and unanimously carried? the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids
<br />for demolition of the structure at 644 Diamond Avenue.
<br />1211 S. Lafayette Street. Mr. Liszewski reported a quitclaim deed has been
<br />received from Harley A. and Mildred Dunnuck,.owners of this property. Upon
<br />motion,made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was
<br />authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the structure at 1211 S.
<br />Lafayette Street.
<br />125 E. Keasey Street.,,Mr. Liszewski reported the accessory building at 125 E.
<br />Keasey Street has now been completely demolished and the premises cleaned up.
<br />Request for property owners to appear before the Board 8/16/71
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of the Sub -Standards Director for the following persons to appear
<br />before the .Board on August 16, 1971, to show cause, if any they may have,
<br />why the structures at the following addresses should not be demolished;
<br />236 Indiana Avenue - Goldus Butler
<br />122 S. Laurel - Ooseph Kahalnick
<br />134 N. Birdsell - Odie B. Merriweather
<br />1314 W. Jefferson - Minerva Barnes
<br />229-245 N. De La Paix - M. Dayne Bonta, Trustee

<br />This being the date set for hearing on assessment rolls in Improvement
<br />Resolution Nos. 3284, 1969;,3285, 1969;and 3286, 1969, the Clerk tendered.
<br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County
<br />News which were read and found to be sufficient.
<br />No remonstrators.having appeared and no written remonstrances having been
<br />received, and it having been determined that said lots or tracts of land
<br />have been or will be benefited by said improvement to the amounts named,
<br />upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the preliminary assess-
<br />ment rolls adopted by the Board on July 12, 1971, were in all things confirmed.

<br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 33220 1970 CONFIRMED -
<br />UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME AND STANLEY PIETZAK
<br />It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the dedication by the
<br />University of Notre Dame of a strip of land to extend Twyckenham Drive from
<br />South Bend Avenue to Edison Road be accepted.
<br />It was further moved, seconded and unanimously carried that Vacation Resolution
<br />No. 3322, 1970, adopted August 3, 1970, for the vacation of a portion of Ivy
<br />Road running north from the north right of way line of South Bend Avenue to the
