4 7. August 2, 1971. A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A.M., with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. FIRE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST FOR FIREMEN TO BE EXCUSED FOR MILITARY DUTY Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for the following firemen to be excused for military duty at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, from August 7 to August 21, 1971: Lt. Lamy S. Nitka Richard E. Fogle Larry G. Szczepanski Lt. John'H. Nelson FIRE DEPARTMENT - PROMOTIONS Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the promotion of fireman Ted`T. Siarkowsk•i, to the rank of engineer, retroactive to 1/1/70. Action by the Board on the promotion of,fireman Ervin J. Machowiak was de- ferred for further information. U FIRE DEPARTMENT - TRANSFER OF FUNDS APPROVED U James A. Bickel, City Controller, moved that the request of the Fire Depart- ment for the transfer of $2,000.00 to Account Q-262 (medical, surgical and dental) be approved. The motion was seconded and unanimously carried. Said transfer to be made from the General Fund. Mr. Bickel further moved that the request of the F;'ire Department for transfer of $4,000.00 to Account Q-43 (repair parts) be approved for transfer from the General Fund. The motion was seconded and unanimously carried. - The requests were referred to the Legal Department for the preparation of appropriate ordinances for the consideration of the common Council. FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS The following applications for appointment to Fire Department were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: Robert Taylor Clark_ Ralph Thomas Hackney, Jr. POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: Richard Alan Joo Dennis Morgan Wallace Frederick Earl Stevens Robert Michael Uyhelji The application of Russell Alexander White was returned to the Personnel Director for further completion by the applicant. POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND COMPUTER SCHOOL Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request of Chief Loren M. Bussert for -Sergeant James Robison to attend a computer course in Dayton, Ohio, commencing August 9, 1971 for two weeks. CONTRACT AWARDED - POLICE DEPARTMENT UNIFORMS Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for Police De- partment uniforms for the period 7/1/71 to 7/1/72 was awarded to Gerber Manufacturing Company.
