4 7. <br />August 2, 1971. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M., with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were <br />reviewed and approved. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST FOR FIREMEN TO BE EXCUSED FOR MILITARY DUTY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for the following firemen to be <br />excused for military duty at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, from August 7 to August <br />21, 1971: <br />Lt. Lamy S. Nitka Richard E. Fogle <br />Larry G. Szczepanski Lt. John'H. Nelson <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - PROMOTIONS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />promotion of fireman Ted`T. Siarkowsk•i, to the rank of engineer, retroactive <br />to 1/1/70. <br />Action by the Board on the promotion of,fireman Ervin J. Machowiak was de- <br />ferred for further information. <br />U FIRE DEPARTMENT - TRANSFER OF FUNDS APPROVED <br />U <br />James A. Bickel, City Controller, moved that the request of the Fire Depart- <br />ment for the transfer of $2,000.00 to Account Q-262 (medical, surgical and <br />dental) be approved. The motion was seconded and unanimously carried. <br />Said transfer to be made from the General Fund. <br />Mr. Bickel further moved that the request of the F;'ire Department for transfer <br />of $4,000.00 to Account Q-43 (repair parts) be approved for transfer from <br />the General Fund. The motion was seconded and unanimously carried. - <br />The requests were referred to the Legal Department for the preparation of <br />appropriate ordinances for the consideration of the common Council. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS <br />The following applications for appointment to Fire Department were filed <br />with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: <br />Robert Taylor Clark_ <br />Ralph Thomas Hackney, Jr. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS <br />The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were <br />filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further <br />processing: <br />Richard Alan Joo Dennis Morgan Wallace <br />Frederick Earl Stevens Robert Michael Uyhelji <br />The application of Russell Alexander White was returned to the Personnel <br />Director for further completion by the applicant. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND COMPUTER SCHOOL <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request of Chief Loren M. Bussert for -Sergeant James Robison to attend a <br />computer course in Dayton, Ohio, commencing August 9, 1971 for two weeks. <br />CONTRACT AWARDED - POLICE DEPARTMENT UNIFORMS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for Police De- <br />partment uniforms for the period 7/1/71 to 7/1/72 was awarded to Gerber <br />Manufacturing Company. <br />
