16 <br />July 6, 1971. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M. on July 6, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of the previous <br />meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR UNIFORMS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of <br />Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat to advertise for bids for uniforms for the period <br />August 1, 1971 to August 1, 1972. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION <br />The application of Joseph Andrew Koskik for appointment to the Fire Department <br />was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further <br />processing. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - MILITARY DUTY - ROBERT L. LANCHSWEERDT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of <br />Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert for Robert L. Lanchsweerdt to be excused for <br />military duty at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin from July 17 to July 31, 1971. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND PROGRAMMING SCHOOL <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of <br />Captain Gerald Knepper to attend a training course in computer operation in <br />Denver, Colorado, commencing July 12, 1971. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the training of other personnel for the <br />operation of the Computer System was referred to the City Controller for <br />recommendation. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - TRAFFIC REPORT <br />TkiIl id report for May, 1971, was reviewed and ordered filed. <br />SPECIAL POLICE APPOINTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation <br />of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert for the appointment of Brian J. May as a <br />special police officer while employed by the South Bend Police Department. <br />WEIGHTS AND MEASURES DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of Bert <br />Cichowicz, City Sealer, to attend the National Conference on Weights and Measures <br />in Washington, D. C., July 12 to 16, 1971. <br />Monthly report for June, 1971, of the Weights and Measures Department was re- <br />viewed and ordered filed. <br />The annual report of the Weights and Measures Department for the fiscal year <br />July 1, 1970 to July 1, 1971, was reviewed and ordered filed. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS <br />The following applications were filed with the Board and referred to the <br />Personnel Director for further processing: <br />Lynne Anne Douglass Harold Anthony Paschke <br />Joel Fritz Roy Lee Perkins <br />Raymond Gordon John Frank Przbylski <br />Joseph Christopher Lahiff Gary Steven Wilke <br />
