I <br />June 1, 1971 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M. on June 1, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />BIDS OPENED - IRELAND ROAD <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the improvement of Ireland <br />Road, from Michigan Street to Miami Street, the Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Behd Tribune and the Tri County News <br />which were read and found to be sufficient. The following bids were re- <br />ceived. <br />Arco Engineering Construction Corporation, 901 N. Nappanee Street, Elkhart, <br />Indiana. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was <br />accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid, together with <br />bidder's financial statement (State Board of Accounts No. 96-a). The bid <br />was as follows: <br />Total„ all items - $170,048.00 <br />Alternate A - K-Mart traffic signal installation - 17,006.00 <br />r—I <br />1� Total all items including Alternate A-------------- $187,054.00 <br />Rieth=Riley Construction Co., Inc., P. 0. Box 775, South Bend, Indiana, <br />46624. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was <br />accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid, together with <br />bidder's financial statement (State Board of Accounts No. 96-a). The bid <br />was as follows: <br />Total, all items - $181,183.65 <br />Alternate A - K-Mart traffic ti;gnal installation - 17,500.00 <br />Total all items including Alternate A ------------ $198,683.65 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to Clyde E. <br />Williams and Associates, Inc., for review and recommendation. <br />BIDS OPENED - GASOLINE AND FUEL OIL 7/1/71 THROUGH 12/31/71 <br />This being the date.set for receiving bids for: <br />Item #1 - 60,000 gallons, more or less, regular gasoline. <br />Item #2 - 130,000 gallons, more or less, diesel fuel #1 and <br />diesel fuel #2 (about 50% for heating purposes <br />and 50% diesel fuel). <br />for the period July 1, 1971 through December 31, 1971, the Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County <br />News on May 21 and May 28, 1971, which were read and found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were received: <br />Atlantic Richfield Company, 155 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois, 60606. <br />Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by <br />check No. 11352 of the Atlantic Richfield Company in the amount of $2,000.00. <br />The bid was as follows: <br />Item #1 - 60,000 gal. Atlantic Richfield Arco Gasoline <br />tank wagon lots, plus applicable taxes <br />and inspection fees ----------------- @ 13.98C per gal. <br />transport lots ----------------------- @ 12.98� per gal. <br />Item #2 - 130,000 gal. Atlantic Richfield Arco Heat #2 <br />tankwagon lots ----------------------- @ 13.98� per gal. <br />transport lots ----------------------- @ 12.36� per gal. <br />Arco Heat #1, tankwagon lots --------- @ 14.68� per gal. <br />Transport lots------------------------ @ 12.76� per gal. <br />
