REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 26, 1973 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on <br />Wednesday.,: December 26, 1973 with all members present. City Attorney James <br />A. Roemer was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed <br />and approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY VENTILATING SYSTEM <br />(SEE ALSO PAGE 438) <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for improvements to the Ventilating <br />System at the Municipal Services Facility. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly <br />read: <br />Ideal Consolidated Bid - $28,217.00 <br />806 West Sample Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Slutsky-Peitz Plumbing & Heating Bid - $27,836.00 <br />1216 W. Washington <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Neither bid had a bid bond or certified check as required in the bidding <br />advertisement. The Board delayed action on the bids while a check was made <br />of the Mail Room to see if there had been any bids mailed to the building. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - OFFSET PRESS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for an Offset Press-. The Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read. <br />A. B. Dick & Company Bid was signed by Stanley J. Hiotas, <br />50981 U. S. 31 North non -collusion affidavit was in order and <br />South Bend, Indiana a certified check accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $6395.54 <br />Addressograph-Multigraph Bid was signed by Frank D. Bogan, <br />750 South Chapin Street non -collusion affidavit was in order and <br />South Bend, Indiana a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $6225.40 <br />Mr. Barcome requested that Walter Lantz, Deputy City Controller, review the <br />bids. Mr. Lantz then made a recommendation to the Board that the bid of <br />Addressograph-Multigraph be accepted. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board awarded the bid to Addressograph-Multigraph.. their low bid of <br />$6225.4o. <br />AWARDING OF BID - BUREAU OF POLICE. SPECIAL DUTY VEHICLES <br />The Board received a recommendation from Chief Robert J. Urban that the bid <br />for the three special duty vehicles should be awarded to the AM General <br />Corporation. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board awarded the <br />bid to AM General for a total bid price of $7,216.55. <br />AWARDING OF BID - BUREAU OF POLICE NIGHT VISION SCOPE <br />The Board received a recommendation from Chief Robert J. Urban that the bid <br />of the Standard Law Enforcement Co. of Wisconsin be accepted for the Second <br />Generation Night Vision Scope. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />Board awarded the bid to Standard Law Enforcement Co. of Wisconsin on their <br />low bid of $5,050.00. <br />1 <br />
