REGULAR MEETING <br />1 <br />1 <br />DECEMBER 17, 1973 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on <br />Monday, December 17, 1973 with all members present. City Attorney James A. <br />Roemer was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and <br />approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - BUREAU OF POLICE SPECIAL DUTY VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the three special duty vehicles <br />for the Bureau of Police. The following bids were opened and publicly read, <br />non -collusion affidavits being in order. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />AM General Corporation <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - $2438.85..each, Total - $7316.55 <br />Bid was signed by R. W. Schneider, non - <br />collusion affidavit was in order and a <br />certified check in the amount of $750.00 <br />accompanied the bid. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bid was referred to the Bureau of <br />Police for review and recommendation. <br />NIGHT VISION SCOPE, BUREAU OF POLICE - BID OPENING <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for a Night Vision Scope for the Bureau <br />of Police. The following bids were opened and publicly read, non -collusion <br />affidavits being in order. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice <br />in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />Standard Law Enforcement Co. Bid was signed by Melvin I. Gilbert, <br />Middleton, Wisconsin non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a certified check in the amount of <br />$505.00 accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $5050.00 <br />Ray O'Herron, Danville, Illinois, submitted a letter proposal for the Night Vision <br />Scope. The bid was not on a bid form and no non -collusion affidavit or bid bond <br />were submitted so the bid was disallowed. <br />It was moved, seconded and carried, that the bids be referred to -,the Bureau of <br />Police for review and recommendation, with the Bureau having the right to <br />recommend rejection of all bids and request re -advertising if they so desire. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - BUREAU OF STREETS EQUIPMENT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for a truck, tractor and mower for the <br />Bureau of Streets. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the <br />South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />TRUCK <br />Gates Chevrolet Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - $2854.00 <br />International Harvester <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid was signed by A. G. Irwin, non - <br />collusion affidavit was in order and <br />a 10% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid was signed by T. W. <br />non -collusion affidavit <br />and a certified check in <br />$380.00 was enclosed. <br />Bryant, <br />was in order <br />the amount <br />
