REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 15, 1973 <br />APPROVAL OF RILEY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PARADE ON OCTOBER 18, 1973 <br />The Board received a letter from Mr. George Thomas of Riley High School stating <br />that the parade for which the Board gave approval on October 4th had to be <br />cancelled because of rain. They now request that the parade be held on October <br />18. Mr. Hazinski submitted a recommendation to the Board that he had reviewed <br />this request and recommended approval. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the request. <br />REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting requested approval of the following traff-ic <br />control devices: <br />a. Stop Signs on Knoblock at Progress <br />b. Stop Signs on Dubail at Swygart <br />Increasedtraffic volume warrants. these installations. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board approved the installations. <br />REPORT ON RAILROAD CROSSING ON-NILES AVENUE <br />The Board received a report from Archie Henderson, General Foreman of the Street <br />Department, that after several attempts, he has finally received verbal agreement <br />Q from the Penn Central Railroad to repair the crossing at Niles Avenue. Mr. <br />L3 <br />Henderson indicated that he would follow through to see that repairs are made. <br />APPROVAL OF CONTRACTOR'S BOND <br />The Board received a recommendation from Ray S."Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, <br />that the Contractor's Bond for Clarence Tomlinson was in order and could be approved <br />to October 11, 1973. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved <br />the bond. <br />0 RELEASE OF BOND FOR GILBERT HARWELL APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from the Ohio Casualty Company, requesting release <br />of the Contractor's Bond for Gilbert Harwell. Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engin- <br />eering reported to the Board that he had reviewed the bond and it could be <br />released. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board released the bond <br />effective October 15, 1973. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT <br />The Street Light Outage Report for the period of October l to October 6 was <br />received and ordered filed. <br />RECOMMENDATION FROM CLEN HAZINSKI RE: TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT MISHAWAKA AND 26TH STREET <br />The Board received the following report and recommendation: <br />October 15, 1973 <br />To: Board of Public Works <br />From: Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, Clem Hazinski, Manager <br />Subject: Traffic Signal at Mishawaka Avenue and 26th Street <br />A request was made by Councilman Terry Miller to upgrade the signals at <br />Mishawaka and 26th Street and was referred to this Bureau for review <br />and recommendation. <br />This intersection is controlled by standard pedestal type traffic signals <br />as are others on Mishawaka Avenue. All were investigated and found to be <br />in good operating condition. Visibility at the approaches was found to <br />be good. However, this Bureau recognized the fact that, although the <br />signals are standard, greater visibility could be attained by installing <br />mast arm type indications. <br />
