REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 2, 1973 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, <br />July 2, 1973 with Mr. Farrand and Mr. Seitz present. Minutes of the previous <br />meeting were reviewed and approved. -- <br />PAVING OF DUBAIL STREET WEST OF OLIVE <br />Mr. Al Bailey of the Sollitt Construction Company appeared at the meeting with <br />Mrs. Joan Craftman who is planning a truck wash business on Olive Street. Mr. <br />Bailey said that they had discussed the matter of the City paving a section of <br />Dubail Street near the proposed building with Mr. Richardson with the suggestion <br />that they would furnish the material and the City the equipment for this paving. <br />There was a discussion of the work involved and it was determined that demucking <br />of the area before any paving could be done would be quite expensive. The Board <br />asked Mr. Bailey if the Sollitt Construction Company could demuck the street area <br />at the same time they remove the muck from the building site. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the matter was referred to the Bureau of Engineering for <br />investigation and report and Mr. Bailey was asked to discuss this with Mr. Farra nd. <br />REQUEST FOR DISPOSAL OF FIRE APPARATUS AND EQUIPMENT <br />The Board received the following request: <br />6/15/73 <br />To: BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />From: Asst. Chief Joseph V. Nagy, S.B. Bureau of Fire <br />Re: Disposal of Fire Apparatus and Equipment <br />The South Bend Bureau of Fire wishes to dispose of the following <br />pieces of fire apparatus and equipment: <br />TEM <br />PURCHASE PRICE *NEW <br />One (1) Maxim Fire Engine 1957 $23,000.00 <br />Model 23610, Serioa 2105 <br />Hale 4 State - 1,000 GPM <br />(In working condition, but the engine is obsolete. Repair parts <br />not available) <br />One (1) 1952 American LaFrance Fire Engine $18,500.00 <br />Model F26215C, Serioa 2362 <br />ALFCO 4 State - 1,000 GPM <br />(Worn Out) <br />One (1) 1950 Maxim Fire Engine $12,000.00 <br />Model 435, Serial 2011124 <br />Hale 3 Stage - 600 GPM <br />(Worn Out) <br />One (1) Stahl Aerial Ladder $ 2,000.00 <br />(Approximately 35 Feet) <br />Model 30ATT, Serial 513--Capacity 300 lbs. <br />Date of Manufacture: March, 1969. This unit is electric (12 volt) <br />and hydraulic. Mounts in bed of 3/4 ton or larger truck. <br />Between 180 & 200 Fire Alarm Boxes <br />We will await your reply as to proper procedures to be followed <br />for disposition.
