2_ <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 7, 1973 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, <br />May 7, 1973 with all members present. Minutes of the previous meeting were <br />reviewed and approved, <br />BIDS -PROJECT R & S 58 - NORTHSIDE BOULEVARD <br />Bids for Project R & S 58, Northside Boulevard were opened and publicly read, the <br />Clerk having tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />ARCO ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION CORP. <br />901 N. Nappanee <br />Elkhart, Indiana <br />Bid was signed by William D. <br />Zirkle, non -collusion affidavit <br />was found to be in order and a <br />10% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Total Amount of Bid with Alternate for Guardrail - $60,283.90 <br />RIETH-RILEY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY <br />P. 0. Box 775 <br />South Bend, Indiana 46624 <br />Bid was signed by Richard D. <br />Ruhlman, non -collusion affidavit <br />was found to be in order and a <br />5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Total Amount of Bid with Alternate for Guardrail - $54,680.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Department <br />of Engineering for investigation and report to the Board. <br />SIGNING OF CONTRACT - AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL PARK PHASE III <br />Mr. Gerald Phipps of Clyde Williams & Associates presented to the Board contracts <br />for the Airport Industrial Park Phase III with Woodruff & Sons, Inc. and a copy <br />of a letter received from the Economic Development Administration, which Mr. <br />Richardson read as follows: <br />May 3, 1973 <br />Mr. Robert F. McGinty <br />D-irector, Area Development <br />First Bank and Trust Company <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />Subject: Airport Industrial Park <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />EDA Project No. 06-01-00999 <br />Dear. Mr. McGinty: <br />After review of the additional information, we concur with the Board of <br />Public Works of the City of South Bend to award the construction contract <br />for the referenced project as follows: <br />Contract C-01: Airport Industrial Park <br />Phase III with Pavement Alternate "B" in the <br />amount of $1,380,002.88 to Woodruff and Sons, Inc. <br />EDA participation is limited to fifty (50) per cent of the project cost <br />or a grant not to exceed $861,500.00. <br />Please notify the successful bidder of the award in writing and furnish <br />this office with a copy. <br />Also inform the successful bidder that before they enter into any contract <br />to sublet any portion of the work under contract, they must submit the <br />names of the sub-contractor(s) to you for submittal to EDA for approval. <br />As soon as the contract documents have been completed, please send this <br />office one set of bound executed documents in accordance with instructions <br />
