8 e <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 9, 1973 <br />Mr. Barcome said that Mr. Hazinski should be commended for the work he is <br />doing both downtown and in other areas of the City to keep traffic moving <br />with all the construction work in progress. <br />REPORT ON REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY - 800 BLOCK NORTH NOTRE DAME AVENUE <br />The Board received a report from Mr. Clem Hazinski, Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, that the request to'hold a block party in the 800 block of North <br />Notre Dame Avenue was withdrawn. The party was scheduled to be held on <br />private property and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting provided barricades <br />for the driveways in the area to keep cars ordered. The report was ordered <br />filed. <br />REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />The Board received requests from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for <br />the following: <br />1. Installation of No Parking Signs in the 800 Block East Angela Blvd, <br />in order to provide for an extra traffic lane to handle increased <br />traffic due to the Athletic and Convocation Center at Notre Dame. <br />Upon motion, made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the <br />installation. <br />2. Installation of a Stop Sign on Notre Dame Avenue at Northside Blvd. <br />This is an uncontrolled "T" Intersection and is needed because of <br />the increased volume of traffic. Upon motion, made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board approved the installation. <br />3. Removal of the "One Way Street" in the 100 block of West Navarre. <br />Hospital construction is now confined to within their own property <br />and it is recommended this block be converted back to a two way <br />street. Upon motion, made, seconded and carried, the Board approved <br />this recommendation. <br />LETTER FROM STANLEY PRZYBYLINSKI RE: SCRAP ENGINE <br />The Board received a letter from Stanley Przybylinski, Manager, Municipal <br />Services Facility, that a 1970 Chevrolet Engine, V8, Serial #3916313 GM4 <br />was found under some hydraulic hoses when the Receiving Stock Room was <br />cleaned and rearranged. Mr. Przybylinski advised the Board that the engine <br />was of no value to his Department and had a possible value of $50.00. <br />Upon motion, made, seconded and carried, the Board declared the engine scrap <br />and directed Mr. Przybylinski to dispose of it. The Clerk was directed to <br />notify Captain Sikorski of the Police Department, in the event this engine <br />was reported stolen so that their records could be cleared. <br />REQUEST FROM BUILDING BUREAU TO ATTEND INSPECTORS' SCHOOL <br />The Board received a request from Mr. Forrest R. West, Director, Bureau of <br />Buildings and Permits, that he and seven Inspectors be allowed to attend the <br />Inspectors' School conducted by the Indiana Association of Building Officials, <br />Inc., at Speedway, Indiana on April 16-18, 1973. Upon motion, made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board approved the request. <br />REQUEST FROM COUNCIL FOR THE RETARDED - "RIDE A BIKE FOR RETARDED" PROJECT <br />The Board received the following request: <br />April 5, 1973 <br />Mr. William J. Richardson, Director <br />Department of Public Works <br />County -City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />Dear Mr. Richardson: <br />The purpose of this letter is to request permission to hold a Ride A Bike <br />for the Retarded in South Bend on Sunday, April 29.
