REGULAR MEETING MARCH 19, 1973 <br />1 <br />1 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, <br />March 19, 1973 with all members present. Minutes of the last meeting were <br />reviewed and approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON REALIGNMENT OF TRAFFIC PATTERN - MICHIGAN AND MAIN STREETS <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the realignment of traffic patterns <br />making Michigan Street one way north from Chippewa to Monroe and Main Street one <br />way south from South Street to Chippewa. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri-County News on March 9th and March 16th, 1973. <br />No citizens appeared to be heard on the proposed realignment. Mrs. Frederick Mutzl, <br />320 Parkovash Avenue, said that plans have come too far on the project to object <br />but she hoped that it would be of benefit to the City. Mr. Richardson pointed out <br />that the Federal Highway Administration, through the Indiana State Highway Com- <br />mission, advertised for a public hearing on this same project and at that time no <br />citizens came forth requesting a full public hearing. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board ordained that Michigan Street be made one way north from <br />Chippewa to Monroe and that Main Street be made one way south from South Street <br />to Chippewa Avenue. <br />BIDS OPENED - R & S 48 IRONWOOD SANITARY TRUNK SEWER EXTENSION <br />Bids for Project R & S 48, Ironwood Sanitary Trunk Sewer Extension, were opened <br />and publicly read, the Clerk having tendered proofs of publication of notice in <br />the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News on the 2nd and 9th day of March, <br />1973. <br />H. DeWulf Mechanical Contractor, 58600 Executive Drive, Mishawaka, Indiana <br />Bid - $123,790.50 <br />Non -collusion affidavit was found <br />to be in order and a 5% bid bond <br />accompanied the bid. <br />Dye Plumbing & Heating Company, 712 Madison, LaPorte, Indiana <br />Bid - $124,472.90 <br />Non -collusion affidavit was found <br />to be in order and a bid bond of <br />5% accompanied the bid. <br />Howell Construction Company, 111 E. Windsor Street, Elkhart, Indiana <br />Bid - $126,654.20 <br />Non -collusion affidavit was found <br />to be in_order and a 5% bid bond <br />accompanied the bid. <br />Upon motion, made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Bureau of <br />Engineering for investigation and report to the Board. <br />BIDS AWARDED - SALE OF CITY -OWNED REAL ESTATE <br />The Board received a recommendation from the Legal Department that the following <br />bids be accepted for the sale of city -owned real estate: <br />1315 South Main Street <br />Portions of Lots No. 1 & 2A <br />and B in Keefer's Sub. of <br />B.O.L. 29 and 30 (Innerbelt) <br />Portions of Lots No. 11 and <br />12 Kuntsman's 1st Addition <br />(Innerbelt) <br />314 East Bronson Street <br />Gladys Homoky Bid - $1,375.00 <br />Mr. & Mrs. Sol Orfanos Bid- $1,111.00 <br />Thomas J.
