1/22/73 <br />1 <br />1 <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />Street light outage reports for the period of 1/10/73 to 1/16/73 were received <br />and ordered filed. <br />SOUNDING OF LOCOMOTIVE WHISTLES AT CERTAIN CROSSINGS <br />Mr. Sweeney reported, as -a point of information, on a petition filed by the <br />Legal Department of the City of South Bend in regard to sounding train whistles. <br />The City is asking the Public Service Commission to exempt certain crossings <br />from the state law and the Commission has indicated they will consent to a <br />hearing in South Bend. They have held two similar hearings, one in Michigan City <br />and one in Lafayette. The petition in Michigan City was denied and the one <br />in Lafayette was granted. The Commission expects there will be legislation <br />introduced in this session which would -repeal the state statute requiring that <br />whistles be blown at crossings within the city limits. Mr. Sweeney will be in <br />contact with our legislators to see if such legislation is introduced and, if <br />it is not, will suggest that such legislation be authored by St. Joseph County. <br />COMPLAINT - MRS. ANTON LENCHEK,.2850 ROCKN'.E DRIVE <br />Mrs. Anton Lenchek, 2850 Rockne Drive, complained of poor drainage in the street <br />near her driveway which is causing washing away of the drive and the street. <br />She has complained to the Water Works and the Street Department and they have said <br />it is the responsibility of the Sewer Department. Mr. Richardson -said that he <br />would contact the Wastewater Department in regard to her complaint. <br />COMPLAINT - MR. CHARLES HOWELL, BUILDERS UNITED <br />Mr. Charles Howell, Builders United, asked the Board to investigate the removal of <br />a semi -trailer truck from a building site at 1502 Corby Blvd. Mr. Howell said that <br />he had received a complaint that the truck was blocking the view and that when he <br />investigated, the truck had been towed away upon orders of the Police Department. <br />The Board agreed to look into the matter to determine the circumstances which <br />resulted in the trailer being towed away. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the meeting was ad aat 1 :15 a.m. <br />les A.
