U-8 JANUARY 22, 1973 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 22, 1973. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were reviewed and approved. FIRE DEPARTMENT Chief Bland was present at the meeting and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. The following letter was presented to the Board: January 18, 1973 Board of Public Works & Safety 13th Floor, County -City Building South Bend, Indiana 46601 Re: St. Joseph County Heart Association Drive Honorable Board Members: Attached you will find a letter from the St. Joseph County Heart Association with regard to their annual drive. They are requesting permission to use Fire Stations as drop points following the drive. Please be advised that this office approves of this type of an arrangement; however, we would like to make mention of the fact -that it is absolutely essential that these kits be picked up as soon as possible after the drive. During one of the last drives, and I would like to withhold the name of the organization for the time being, we held the kits which contained money for approximately one month after the drive was to have been over. Saal, St. Joseph County Heart Association Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board accepted Chief Bland's recommendation and granted permission for the St. Joseph County Heart Association to use certain Fire Stations as drop points following their annual drive. POLICE DEPARTMENT - STATISTICAL REPORT FOR DECEMBER Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Police Department Statistical Report for the month of December was ordered filed. APPLICATIONS FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT Applications for the Police Department for Thomas H. Fautz, Rex J. Rakow and Terry R. Young were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Department. BUREAU OF BUILDINGS - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION Mr. Isaiah Steed, Sub -Standard Director, appeared before the Board and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. 142 Birdsell Street Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board authorized Mr. Steed to advertise for bids for the demolition of the structure at 142 Birdsell Street.
