People are free to walk under the tree whether it is on <br />the parking lot or over the sidewalk. Of course, there are hundreds of. <br />signs hanging over the sidewalks; practically every town and city <br />in the United States puts Christmas displays on streetlight poles <br />or strings them across streets and sidewalks to celebrate Christmas. <br />The same insurance forms which were supplied to your Board <br />are again being sent to you. <br />I hope it is possible for you to act on this at your next meet- <br />ing as Mr. Paul Gilbert wishes the tree installed soon. Yarger, President <br />r-1 <br />The Board referred this letter to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />for investigation and report. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE TWO VACUUM STREET SWEEPERS <br />A request was received from the South Bend Street Commissioner, Donald <br />L. Deeker, that the City purchase two (2) Vacuum Street Sweepers. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Clerk was directed to <br />advertise for the street sweepers, with bids to be received on <br />November 20, 1972. <br />REQUEST TO HAVE STREET LIGHTING ON SOUTH WELLINGTON INVESTIGATED <br />A letter was presented to the Board from the LaSalle Park District <br />Council, Inc. requesting the Board to investigate the need for <br />street lighting on South Wellington Street between Western and_ <br />Washington Avenues. It was their understanding there is no light- <br />ing at all in those two blocks. This request was referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for study and report back to the <br />Board. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carri-ed, the Board accepted the recom- <br />mendation of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and approved the <br />following Traffic Control Device: <br />Installation of a STOP sign on Walsh Street at Cedar Street <br />A.C.T.I.O.N. IN -KIND VOUCHERS FOR FIRE STATIONS #10, 7 & 8 <br />In -Kind vouchers for contributions covering estimated rental valua- <br />tion for Fire Stations #10, #7 and #8 were filed for the month of <br />November, 1972. <br />COMPLAINT FROM COUNCILMAN NEWBURN <br />Councilman Odell Newburn appeared before the Board to complain <br />that after a collision debris and broken glass was allowed to <br />litter the pavement. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Clerk was directed to write to the towing services and in- <br />struct them to make sure all debris and broken glass was removed <br />from the pavement after an accident. <br />
