September 18, 1972 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A.M., on Monday, September 18, 1972. Present were Mr. Charles A. Sweeney, Jr., City Attorney and Mr. William Richardson, City Engineer. Mr. James Barcome, City Controller was absent because he irs a member of the Tax Advisory Board and is attending the hearings. FIRE DEPARTMENT There were no matters pertaining to the Fire Department to be discussed. 'POU CEry-DEPARTMENT Chief Seals was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. The Chief presented the following letter: OFFICERS TO POLICE PISTOL MATCH September 18, 1972 eel Board of Public Worlds and Safety County City Building South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: We respectfully request permission to allow the following four officers to attend the State Fraternal Order of Police 8th Annual Combat Pistol Match to be held at Shelbyville, Indiana, on September 23 and 24, 1972: Sergeant E. Wawrzyniak Sergeant F. Szuba Corporal J. Linville Officer J. Szalay Sergeants Szuba and Wawrzyniak will need to be exused from duty. Officer Szalay and Corporal Linville will be attending on their off-dity days. All expenses for the trip will be paid by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #36. ROBERT URBAN TO SEMINAR September 15, 1972 Board of Public Works and Safety County City Building South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: We are forwarding to you a request from Division Chief Robert J. Urban to attend a State Pension Seminar, State F.O.P. Board Meeting in Columbus, Indiana, on September 22,23,24, 1972. This will be at no cost to the City.
