9/11/72 The following letter was presented: September 8, 1972 Board of Public Works and Safety 13th Floor, County City Building South Bend, Indiana 46601 Re: Firefighter Harold A. Schuttrow Honorable Members of the ,Board: Attached hereto please find the Application and Declaration for Retirement of the above named firefighter, who wishes to make his retirement effective September 8, 1972. Appointed April 3, 1951, Firefighter Schuttrow has completed Twenty-one (21) years of service on the South Bend Fire Department. His birth date is August 8, 1923. 1 recommend that his retirement be granted, which I trust will meet with your approval. jRespectfully yours, SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT JRB/ss s/ Jack R. Bland, Fire Chief Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the above retirement was approved with regret. The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr. Schuttrow and thank him for his years of service to the City. LETTER FROM MR AND MRS. CASTLE RE: FIRE HYDRANTS A letter was received, from Mr. & Mrs. Charles Castle, 52194 Oakland, South Bend, Indiana wherein they state they approve the painting of the fire hydrants red, white and blue. POLICE DEPARTMENT The followingi., letter was presented to the Board: SEPT. 8, 1972 Board of Public Works and Safety County City Building South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: An invitation has been extended to Division Chief Loren M. Bussert to attend the National Symposium on Police Community Relations sponsored by the United States Department of Justice from September 17, 1972 to September 20, 1972. All expenses will be paid by the Department of Justice including travel, all lodging and meals while at Quantico, Virginia, where the Symposium -will be held at the New FBI Training Facility.
