REGULAR MEETING JUNE 16, 1975 <br />I <br />C <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m, on Monday, June 16, 1975 by Chairman Rollin Farrand with <br />all members present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed <br />and approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - WIDENER LANE SEWERS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the construction of <br />the Widener Lane Sanitary Sewers, authorized under Improvement <br />Resolution 3406, 1975. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Bradber y Brothers <br />Bid - $130,121.25 <br />H. DeWulf Mech. Contractor <br />Bid - $168,065.00 <br />Dye Plumbing & Heating Co. <br />Bid - $157,872.75 <br />Woodruff & Sons, Inc. <br />Bid - $154,192.00 <br />A & A Plumbing & Heating <br />Bid - $117,832.50 <br />Bid was signed by W. J. Bradberry, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid was signed by Henry DeWulf, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid was signed by Charles T. Dye, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid was signed by Gordon Booz, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid was signed by Earl 11. Allison, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Marion Hamilton & Son, Inc. Bid was signed by Marion M. Hamilton, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $102,564.75 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to <br />the Bureau of Design and Administration for review and recommendation. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - HOMELAND 2ND ADDITION SANITARY SEWER PROJECT <br />This was the date set for holding a public hearing on the proposed <br />construction under Barrett Law of the Homeland 2nd Addition Sanitary <br />Sewers, authorized under Improvement Resolution No. 3415, 1975. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />Mr. Farrand said a previous hearing was held on the Homeland Sewer <br />Project at which time a detailed presentation was made on the Barrett <br />Law project and procedures. He said unless there were specific <br />questions, he would not go into those details at this time. At the <br />previous hearing on theproject, it was voted down by a majority of <br />the property owners. After that hearing, there were some people who <br />expressed an interest in construction of a sewer to serve them <br />specifically. Mr. Farrand said the Board was trying to make this <br />project available to anybody who needed it, so they have prepared <br />another set of plans and an assessment roll showing charges to <br />property owners for the project. Mr. Farrand said the Board's position <br />would be that anybody not wanting to participate in this project <br />
