5-t <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 5, 1975 <br />1 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m, on Monday, May 5, 1975 with all members present. Deputy <br />City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski was also present. Minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />APPROVAL OF APPLICATION FOR SCRAP YARD LICENSE - ALBERT E. MICKELSON <br />The Board received a report from the Division of Engineering that they <br />had reviewed the petition of Albert E. Mickelson to operate a scrap <br />yard at 307 W. Calvert Street. The report indicated that the petition <br />had been checked and Mr. Mickelson did have the required two-thirds <br />of the affected property owners sign the petition. The Bureau of Fire <br />made an inspection and recommended approval of the license. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the application <br />of A. E. Mickelson for a scrap yard at 307 W. Calvert Street. <br />MEMORIAL DAY PARADE APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from the St. Joseph County Memorial <br />Day Society to hold their annual parade on May 26, 1975. The request <br />was reviewed by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />C� Department Traffic Bureau and it was their recommendation that the <br />route be as follows: Assembly area to be on Madison between Williams <br />and Lafayette and between Lafayette and Main. Parade to start on <br />Lafayette at Madison, south to LaSalle, west on LaSalle to Williams, <br />south on Williams to Wayne, east on Wayne to Lafayette, north on <br />Lafayette to Washington. At this point, the color guards and other <br />units will proceed to the monument area at 200 W. Washington, while <br />the vehicles and other marching units will turn west and disband in <br />the 300 block of West Washington. At no time is Main Street to be <br />blocked or used by the parade. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the Board approved the parade, subject to the route suggested <br />by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and.subject also to the filing <br />of liability insurance. <br />INQUIRIES RE: SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY <br />The Board received the following inquiries regarding possible sale <br />of city -owned property: <br />1. 2315 Linden Avenue. Mr. James E. Jones, 2317 W. Linden Avenue, <br />expressed an interest in purchasing the property at 2315 West <br />Linden Avenue. <br />2. 1904 S. Carlisle St. Mr. Andrew Molnar, 1902 S. Carlisle St., <br />expressed an interest in purchasing the property at 1904 S. <br />Carlisle Street. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was referred to <br />the Bureau of Design and Administration to review the lots with regard <br />to any proposed public works projects in the areas. The requests <br />are then to be referred to the Legal Department for preparation of <br />a resolution authorizing the sale. <br />INQUIRY RE: SALE OF NO. 4 FIRE STATION - 1210 Thomas Street <br />The Board received a letter from Richard,Kennedy, of Kennedy Electric <br />Company, 1516 Western Avenue, indicating he would be interested in <br />submitting a reasonable bid on old Fire Station No. 4, 1210 Thomas <br />Street, if it could be rezoned to operate his business from that <br />location. It was noted that the matter of rezoning the property <br />would have to go before the Common Council. Mr. Farrand indicated <br />that there has been a request to lease the property and that request <br />is now under advisement. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />matter was tabled for one week for a report on the status of the <br />lease agreement. <br />
