REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 14, 1975 <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of.Public Works orders the <br />Department of Public Works to.prepare the plans, specifications and <br />cost estimates, secure the necessary right-of-way, easements, permits <br />and appropriations, and to seek bids for and construct the.improvements <br />on William Street from LaSalle Street to Jefferson Boulevard. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/ James V. Seitz <br />ATTEST: <br />s/ Patricia DeClercq, Clerk <br />Dated this 14th day of April, 1975. <br />APPLICATION APPROVED - RIVER BEND PLAZA <br />The Board received an application for a display by the South Bend <br />Police Department Crime Prevention Unit on Law Enforcement Day <br />May 1, 1975. The application was favorably recommended by Louis <br />Wilcox, Director. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />applicatioir was approved. <br />LETTER FROM MRS. JANE SWAN RE: PARKING METER SIGNS <br />The Board received a letter from Mrs. Jane Swan complaining that <br />she put four dimes in a parking meter where the sign indicated the <br />meters were two hour meters and then found that the meter was only <br />a one hour meter. Mrs. Swan said she lost four dimes in the meter <br />and a 100 stamp to call this matter to the Board's attention and <br />she asked that she be reimbursed. A collection was taken to <br />provide Mrs. Swan with the 50(,% refund. The matter of checking the <br />signs indicating parking meter limits was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting for investigation. <br />REQUEST FOR PORTABLE OFFICE AT 743 WESTERN AVENUE APPROVED <br />Mr. Doyle B. Rodeman, owner of Fashion Cleaners, who leases a building <br />at 743 Western Avenue which is owned by the City, requested permission <br />to use a mobile office at that location while the buiding, which <br />was damaged by fire, is repaired or rebuilt. Forrest West, Building <br />Commissioner, reviewed the request and recommended it favorably. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendatLon'to allow the portable office. <br />PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY FILED - FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES <br />The Board received a petition from the Fraternal Order of Eagles to <br />vacate the east -west alley south.of Madison Street between Lots <br />171 and 172 in the Original Plat of South Bend, running from Michigan <br />Street west to the first north -south alley. The petition was signed <br />by eight officers of the Eagles Lodge and the purpose of the petition <br />is to close the alley to traffic and put an entrance into their <br />building from the side. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the petition was filed and referred to the Division of Engineering <br />for preliminary review, a utility check and a recommendation. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET SERVICES <br />Clarence L. Hardin requested permission from the Board to hold <br />Street Services in a vacant lot at the corner of Washington and <br />Walnut Streets on Wednesdays from 2 to 3 p.m. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the request was referred to the Legal Department <br />and to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
