279, <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 27, 1975 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 1975 with all members present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski was also present. Minutes <br />of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />REMMMATION TO AWARD BID M.S.F. JANITORIAL SERVICES TABLED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the awardingof the bid <br />for Janitorial Services was tabled. <br />PROJECT COMPLETION AFFIDAVITS APPROVED, CREST MANOR, FAIRFAX <br />ESTATES AND IRELAND HEIGHTS <br />Project Completion Affidavits were received for the following projects, <br />with a recommendation from Patrick McMahon, Manager, Bureau of Public <br />Construction, that they be approved. <br />Ireland Heights, First Section for Sanitary and Storm. Sewers, Water <br />Mains and Taps and Roadway Improvements. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Completion Affidavit was approved. <br />Crest Manor, Section Four.for Sanitary and Storm Sewers, Water Mains <br />and Taps and Roadway Improvements. Upon motion made,- seconded <br />and carried, the Completion Affidavit was approved. <br />Crest Manor, Section Eight for Sanitary and Storm Sewers, Water <br />Mains and Taps and Roadway.Improvements. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Completion Affidavit was approved. <br />Fairfax Estates, First Section for Sanitary and Storm Sewers, Water <br />Mains and Taps and Roadway Improvements. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Completion Affidavit was approved. <br />LOADING ZONE APPROVED AT 620 NORTH MICHIGAN <br />Charles Lennon, Director of the Housing Allowance Program at 620 <br />North Michigan, had requested that a loading zone be installed at <br />that location, consisting of three parking stalls. Mr. Lennon stated <br />that although adequate parking is provided at the rear, access to the <br />front of the building by handicapped, elderly, ambulatory or otherwise <br />incapacited persons is needed since there are no steps or curbs at <br />the front. Clem Hazinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, recommended that three parking spaces be signed "10 Minute <br />Loading Zone" at the front entrance of 620 North Michigan. He <br />further recommended that this zone be temporary and be obesrved for <br />efficiency to determine whether it should be a permanent installation <br />or should be removed. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />recommendation was approved. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE PORTIONS OF PUSH, <br />DONALD AND FOX STREETS AND THREE ALLEYS <br />The Board received a recommendation from the Area Plan Commission that <br />a public hearing was held on January 21, 1975 on the petition of <br />the South Bend Community School Corporation to vacate portions of <br />Rush, Donald and Fox Streets and three adjoining alleys and the <br />petition was favorably recommended to the Board of Public Works. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board filed the <br />recommendation and referred the petition to the Bureau of Engineering <br />for preparation of the Vacation Resolution. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE THE NORTH -SOUTH ALLEY <br />BETWEEN PHILLIPA,AND CARLISLE STREETS <br />The Board received a report from the Area Plan Commission that a <br />public hearing was held on January 21, 1975 on the petition of <br />Albert and Sara Mickelson to vacate the north -south alley between <br />Phillipa and Carlisle Street, from Dunham Street south to the <br />first alley south of Dunham Street.
