iG <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 9, 1974 <br />3. This Resolution shall, upon ,.its adoption, be submitted to the <br />Common Council of the City of"South Bend for its ratification and <br />approval of the action taken herein by this Board. <br />Adopted this 9th day of December, 1974. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/ Rollin E. Barcome <br />ATTEST: <br />s/ Patricia DeClercq, Clergy: <br />REPORT FROM BUREAU OF TRAFFIC AND LIGHTING RE: MICHIGAN & MARION <br />The following report was received by the Board: <br />A complaint that pedestrians are ignored by motorists at <br />Michigan and Marion Streets was referred to this Bureau by <br />the Board of Public Works. The following action has been <br />taken: <br />1. Police have been notified of the violation of <br />motorists failing to yield to pedestrians when <br />they have a "walk" indication. <br />2. Since this is a State Highway, a call was made to <br />the LaPorte District to send a traffic man to meet <br />with me to discuss a possible "No Turn on Red". <br />3. This Bureau installed three 24-inch pedestrian <br />crossing warning signs._ <br />It is suggested that residents of the 1"Iar-11ain Apartments <br />desiring to go to the newly located drug store on Michigan <br />Street cross Marion Street at Pain Street and walk easterly <br />on the south side of Marion where they would only have to <br />cross two lanes of traffic on richigan Street. A mid -block <br />crossing, as requested, is not warranted according to the <br />Manual of Uniform control. <br />s/ Clem Hazinski if <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the report was ordered filed. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE APPROVED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended to the Board that <br />the Yield Sign on Hill Street at South Bend Avenue be changed to <br />a Stop Sign. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the recommenda- <br />tion was approved. <br />HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR 1975 ADOPTED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the following Holiday <br />Schedule for City Employees for 1975 was adopted by the Board: <br />New Year's Day <br />Good Friday <br />Primary Election Day <br />Memorial Day <br />Independence Day <br />Monday Following Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Election Day <br />Wednesday, January 1, 1975 <br />Friday, March 28, 1975 <br />Tuesday, May 6, 1975 <br />Monday, May 26, 1975 <br />Friday, July 4, 1975 <br />Monday, July 7, 1975 <br />Monday, September 1, 1975 <br />Tuesday, November 4, 1975 <br />1 <br />
