REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 14, 1974 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works convened at 9:30 a.m, on Monday, October 14, 1974 with all members present.' Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. OPENING OF BIDS - EXCAVATION AND DEMOLITION OF CENTURY CENTER SITE This was the date set for receiving bids for the excavation and demolition of the Century Center Site. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which was found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: LaFree Excavating Company Bid'.- $1980124.00 O'Neal Trucking Company 1104 W. Donald Street South Bend, Indiana Bid - $98,900.00 Ritschard Brothers, Inc. 1204 W. Sample Street South Bend, Indiana Bid - $115,800.00 A request was made that the bid per lineal foot, an addendum to the bid, be read and it was read as follows: Ritschard Brothers, Inc., $50,00 per lineal foot; O'Neal Trucking Company, $20.67 per lineal foot and LaFree Excavating Company, $20.42 per lineal foot. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Bureau of Design and Administration for review and recommendation. OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED REAL ESTATE This was the date set for receiving bids for the sale of the city - owned property at 1809 Florence Street on credit, no bids having been received when the property was previously advertised for sale. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. There were no bids received. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board referred this matter to the Legal Department for preparation of a resolution requesting authorization of the Common Council to sell the property for less than the appraised value, as required by the Ordinance. REQUESTS FROM COUNCILMAN KOPCZYNSKI The Board received requests from Councilman Kopczynski for the installation of a four-way stop sign at Walnut and Ford Streets, the installation of a traffic signal at Sample and Falcon Streets, and the installation of a street light mid -block, 1200 West Dunham Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board referred the requests to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. SIGNING OF CONTRACT AND APPROVAL OF MAINTENANCE BOND - INWOOD ROAD- DENSLOW DRIVE STREET IMPROVEMENTS The Contract with Walsh and Kelly, Inc. for the street improvements to Inwood Road and Denslow Drive was submitted to the Board. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the contract was approved. The Performance Bond for the project was, upon motion made, seconded and carried, approved.
