REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 14, 1974 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works convened at 9:30 <br />a.m, on Monday, October 14, 1974 with all members present.' Deputy <br />City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski was also present. Minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - EXCAVATION AND DEMOLITION OF CENTURY CENTER SITE <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the excavation and <br />demolition of the Century Center Site. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- <br />County News which was found to be sufficient. The following bids <br />were opened and publicly read: <br />LaFree Excavating Company <br />Bid'.- $1980124.00 <br />O'Neal Trucking Company <br />1104 W. Donald Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - $98,900.00 <br />Ritschard Brothers, Inc. <br />1204 W. Sample Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - $115,800.00 <br />A request was made that the bid per lineal foot, an addendum to the <br />bid, be read and it was read as follows: Ritschard Brothers, Inc., <br />$50,00 per lineal foot; O'Neal Trucking Company, $20.67 per lineal <br />foot and LaFree Excavating Company, $20.42 per lineal foot. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the <br />Bureau of Design and Administration for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED REAL ESTATE <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the sale of the city - <br />owned property at 1809 Florence Street on credit, no bids having <br />been received when the property was previously advertised for sale. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />There were no bids received. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board referred this matter to the Legal Department for preparation <br />of a resolution requesting authorization of the Common Council to sell <br />the property for less than the appraised value, as required by the <br />Ordinance. <br />REQUESTS FROM COUNCILMAN KOPCZYNSKI <br />The Board received requests from Councilman Kopczynski for the <br />installation of a four-way stop sign at Walnut and Ford Streets, <br />the installation of a traffic signal at Sample and Falcon Streets, <br />and the installation of a street light mid -block, 1200 West Dunham <br />Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board referred <br />the requests to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and <br />recommendation. <br />SIGNING OF CONTRACT AND APPROVAL OF MAINTENANCE BOND - INWOOD ROAD- <br />DENSLOW DRIVE STREET IMPROVEMENTS <br />The Contract with Walsh and Kelly, Inc. for the street improvements <br />to Inwood Road and Denslow Drive was submitted to the Board. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the contract was approved. The <br />Performance Bond for the project was, upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, approved. <br />
