<br />CHANGE ORDER APPROVED TOPICS T6000(7,) U.S. 20-HICKORY INTERSECTION
<br />A Change Order was submitted to the Board for Topics Project T6000(7)
<br />the U.S. 20-McKinley-Hickory intersection. The Change Order increased
<br />the contract with Arco Engineering Co.. by $501.00. Upon motion made,
<br />seconded and carried, the Board approved the Change Order.
<br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED ON PARKWAY
<br />The Board received a request from Mr. & Mrs. James Anastos to hold a
<br />Block Party on Saturday, July 27 on Parkway,, between Meadow Lane
<br />and Dogwood from 9:00 a.m. until unknown time. The Bureau of Traffic
<br />and Lighting reviewed the request,and recommended approval, -providing
<br />the City is indemnified. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the
<br />Board approved the .request, subject to liability insurance being filed.
<br />OPEN AIR STAND APPROVED
<br />Mrs. Minnie Henderson submitted a request to the Board to operate an
<br />Open Air Stand at 1611 Linden Avenue and on Circle Avenue. Mrs. Henderson
<br />operates a wig shop at 1611 Linden Avenue. She informed the Board
<br />that a man has been selling wigs from a blue van on the street at
<br />Washington and Huey, and that he does not have a license or permit.
<br />The Board advised Mrs. Henderson that the Board of Public Safety has
<br />requested the Police Department to investigate this complaint and
<br />report to them. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board
<br />approved the Open Air Stand request, subject to Mrs. Henderson securing
<br />the necessary City licenses.
<br />SIDEWALK REPAIR ORDERED
<br />The Board received a copy of a letter sent to Mr. John Howe, 1932
<br />Inglewood Place, by City Attorney James A. Roemer advising him that
<br />the sidewalk abutting his home should be repaired. Councilman
<br />Joseph Serge notified the Board that the owner has not made the
<br />repairs and he asked the Board to take action. Upon motion made,
<br />seconded and carried, the Board directed that the Clerk send a letter
<br />to Mr. Howe notifying him that it is his responsibility to repair
<br />the sidewalk and that the repairs should be completed within 30 days
<br />of the date of the letter.
<br />APPLICATIONS FOR SIDEWALK DAYS APPROVED
<br />The Board received the following applications from downtown merchants
<br />for participation in Sidewalk Days on July 26 and 27: Sonneborns,
<br />Milady Shop, Robertsons, Career Shop, R. K. Mueller Jewelers, Ras-
<br />mussens, Office Engineers, Dainty Maid Bake Shop, Carsons Shoes,
<br />J. C. Penney Co., Merle Norman Cosmetics, The Peanut Shop, Inwoods,
<br />Baldwin's Shoes, Jennifer's, Family Bookstore, Newmans, Gallenkamp
<br />Shoes, Fox Jewelry, Aults Camera Shop, Richman Brothers, Lynns
<br />allmark Store and Osco Drug. Upon motion made, seconded and carried,
<br />the Board approved the applications subject to the proper .liability
<br />insurance being filed with the Board.
<br />APPLICATIONS FOR DISPLAY BOOTHS FOR BIKE RALLY
<br />Applications were received from the following for display booths
<br />on River Bend Plaza on July 27: Rickey's Bicycle Mart, Dave's Cycle
<br />Shop, Morgan's Cyclery, House of Bicycles, Bicycle Center, Albright's
<br />Bike Shop, River City 10 Speeds, South Bend Recreation Center, St.
<br />Joseph County Park and Recreation Center. Upon motion made, seconded
<br />and carried, the applications were approved.
<br />STREET LIGHT INSTALLATIONS APPROVED
<br />The following recommendations for installation of street lights
<br />were received from Ralph Wadzinski, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting:
<br />1. Install a 7,000L MV OH WP, mid -block of Brookfield, south
<br />of Fassnacht. Cost $3.73/mo. or $45.00/yr.
