REGULAR MEETING JULY 15, 1974 A regular meeting 9:30 a.m. with all was also present. and approved. of the Board of Public Works was convened at members present. City Attorney James A. Roemer Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed OPENING OF BIDS - FIRE STATION NO. 4 This was the date set for receiving bids for the construction of the new Fire Station No. 4. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Muia Construction Company 1818 S. Main Street South Bend, Indiana Bid - $182,880.00 McCollough Construction Co. P. 0. Box 580E Elkhart, Indiana Bid - $194,365.00 Macumber Construction Co. 519 S. 10th St. Elkhart, Indiana Bid - $201,299.00 B & G Construction Co. 1025 W. llth Street Mishawaka, Indiana Bid - $227,475.00 Schumacher Sons, Inc. P. 0. Blx 390 Mishawaka, Indiana Bid - $195,600.00 Carl J. Reinke & Sons, Inc. P. 0. Box 3095 South Bend, Indiana Bid - $203,435.00 H. G. Christman Const. Co. 850 S. Fellows St. South Bend, Indiana Bid - $212,900.00 Bid was signed by E. C. Muia, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid was signed by Cecil E. Thompson, non -collusion affidavit was in order, and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid was signed by F. H. Macumber, non -collusion affidavit was in order, and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid was signed by Lyle D.. Burnside, non -collusion affidavit was in order, and a 5% bid bond accomanied the bid. Bid was signed by John P. Schumacher, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid was signed by Harold G. Reinke, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid was signed by Norris N. Emmons, non -collusion affidavit was in order, and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Department of Engineering for review and recommendation. REQUEST FOR GYMNKHANA The Board received a request from the Michiana Auto Club to hold a Gymnkhana (Obstacle Course) on Aug. 28 on Washington Street. The Club requested that parking be banned on Saturday evening on Washington Street and that barricades and traffic cones be set up for the actual drive on Sunday, Aug. 28. Mr. Philip.Edelsberg,: Chairman of the Event, was present with Louis Wilcox, Director of River Bend Plaza, and Douglas Simpson, Director of the Bicentennial Village activities. A Certificate of Insurance from the Auto�Club was submitted to the Board. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation.
