Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the
Board directed that Mr. Bauer negotiate a contract with G. Mr. Seitz advised Mr. Coller to appear at the
next Park Board Meeting on July 8 at 3:30 p.m. at the Park Department
Administration Building to express his views.
COURTESY PARKING TICKETS
Louis Wilcox, Director, River Bend Plaza, submitted to the Board
samples of Courtesy Parking Tickets to be given to overtime parkers
who are from out-of-state parking in the downtown area near the Plaza.
There was a discussion about use of such tickets. Mr. Wadzinski,
Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, said he would not recommend using
these tickets. He said South Bend is a border town to another state
and there are three universities in the area, which means there are
many out-of-state cars in the area all the time. He said he did not
feel courtesy parking should be extended at meters to anyone, as it
would not be fair to local residents. It was suggested that the
Chamber of Commerce Visitors Bureau might want to include some kind
of courtesy parking pass in materials they pass out'to visitors.
It was decided that this matter would be investigated further.
***
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon
motion made, seconded and carried, the meeting ad-ourned at 11:25 a.m.
1
Rollin E.
