1' 3: <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 24, 1974 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of. Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 1974 with Mr. Farrand and Mr. Seitz <br />present. City Attorney James A. Roemer was also present. Minutes <br />of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - ANGELA BLVD.-NORTH MICHI.GAN INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the intersection improve- <br />ments and signal modernization on Angela Boulevard at North Michigan <br />Street. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the <br />South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Walsh & Kelly Bid was signed by John R. Walsh, <br />2015 W. Western Avenue non -collusion affidavit was in <br />South Bend, Indiana order and a 10% bid bond accompanied <br />the bid <br />Bid - $114,111.70 <br />Rieth-Riley Construction Co. Bid was signed by Richard D. Ruhlman, <br />P. 0. Box 1775 non -collusion affidavit was in <br />South Bend, Indiana order and a 5% bid bond accompanied <br />the bid. <br />W Bid - $109,282.60 <br />W <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to <br />the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - MISHAWAKA AVENUE SIGNAL MODERNIZATION <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the signal modernization <br />on Mishawaka Avenue at Ironwood Drive, 26th Street and 30th Street. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Morse Electric Co. Bid was signed by Edward H. Morse, <br />712 N. Niles Avenue non -collusion affidavit was in <br />South Bend, Indiana order and a 10% bid bond <br />accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $41,492.30 (Alternates A, B, C. and D, bring total bid to <br />$63,360.20) <br />Arrow Electric Co. Bid was signed by Harold Markward, <br />1129 South Bend Avenue non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - $44,783.80 (Alternates A, B, C, and D bring total bid to <br />$68,970.35) , <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to <br />the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVAL OF CONTRACT - CIVIC CENTER LIGHTING CONSULTANT <br />Charles F. Lennon, Jr., Director of the Department of Redevelopment, <br />was present and submitted to the Board a proposed contract between <br />Philip Johnson & John Burgee Architects and Claude R. Engle, III as <br />lighting consultant for Century Center. Mr. Lennon noted that the <br />contract was approved by the Civil Center Authority, and he recommended <br />that the Board approve it. There was a discussion on the hourly rate <br />in the contract. It was moved, seconded and carried, that the contract <br />with Claude Engle III as lighting consultant for the Century Center <br />be approved with the recommendation that the total figure in Paragraph <br />7 not exceed $12,500. <br />
