1' 3: REGULAR MEETING JUNE 24, 1974 A regular meeting of the Board of. Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 1974 with Mr. Farrand and Mr. Seitz present. City Attorney James A. Roemer was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. OPENING OF BIDS - ANGELA BLVD.-NORTH MICHI.GAN INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS This was the date set for receiving bids for the intersection improve- ments and signal modernization on Angela Boulevard at North Michigan Street. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Walsh & Kelly Bid was signed by John R. Walsh, 2015 W. Western Avenue non -collusion affidavit was in South Bend, Indiana order and a 10% bid bond accompanied the bid Bid - $114,111.70 Rieth-Riley Construction Co. Bid was signed by Richard D. Ruhlman, P. 0. Box 1775 non -collusion affidavit was in South Bend, Indiana order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. W Bid - $109,282.60 W Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. OPENING OF BIDS - MISHAWAKA AVENUE SIGNAL MODERNIZATION This was the date set for receiving bids for the signal modernization on Mishawaka Avenue at Ironwood Drive, 26th Street and 30th Street. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Morse Electric Co. Bid was signed by Edward H. Morse, 712 N. Niles Avenue non -collusion affidavit was in South Bend, Indiana order and a 10% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid - $41,492.30 (Alternates A, B, C. and D, bring total bid to $63,360.20) Arrow Electric Co. Bid was signed by Harold Markward, 1129 South Bend Avenue non -collusion affidavit was in order South Bend, Indiana Bid - $44,783.80 (Alternates A, B, C, and D bring total bid to $68,970.35) , Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. APPROVAL OF CONTRACT - CIVIC CENTER LIGHTING CONSULTANT Charles F. Lennon, Jr., Director of the Department of Redevelopment, was present and submitted to the Board a proposed contract between Philip Johnson & John Burgee Architects and Claude R. Engle, III as lighting consultant for Century Center. Mr. Lennon noted that the contract was approved by the Civil Center Authority, and he recommended that the Board approve it. There was a discussion on the hourly rate in the contract. It was moved, seconded and carried, that the contract with Claude Engle III as lighting consultant for the Century Center be approved with the recommendation that the total figure in Paragraph 7 not exceed $12,500.
