an <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL"15, 1974 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on <br />Monday, April 15, 1974 with all members present. Deputy City Attorney <br />William Stanley was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were <br />reviewed and approved. <br />REQUEST FOR PARADE - ALL AMERICAN INDIAN ASSOCIATION <br />The Board received a request from the All American Indian Association to hold . <br />a parade on Saturday, June 8, 1974 at 9:00 a.m. The request was for a route <br />on Lafayette Street. Mr. Clayton Pendergrass was present representing the <br />group and he told the Board that he had met with Lewis Wilcox, Director of <br />River Bend Plaza, and Mr. Wilcox had suggested that they march down the Mall <br />on Michigan Street. Mr. Pendergrass has met with Ralph Wadzinski and had .a <br />preliminary discussion about this. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the request subject to arrangements being worked out with <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />CHARLES F. LENNON, JR.-REQUEST FOR ART SHOW AND SALE <br />Mr. Charles F. Lennon, Jr., Director of the Community Development Department, <br />was present. Mr. Lennon said the Civic Center Authority and Ken Geoffrey <br />have planned an Art Show and Sale by students of the seven high schools and <br />38 elementary schools of the Community School Corporation. Student art work <br />would be displayed and sold on the Civic Center Site on June 1, 1974. <br />All proceeds from the sale will go into the Civic Center Authority Fund. <br />They are requesting permission from the Board to use the land. The Civic <br />Center Authority has approved the sale subject to Board approval and will <br />submit a hold harmless clause to the School Corporation.. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board approved the request. Mr. Lennon noted that <br />people would be kept off the island. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - VACUUM LEAF LOADERS, BUREAU OF STREETS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for four vacuum leaf loaders for <br />the Bureau of Streets. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice <br />in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Korte Brothers, Inc. Bid was signed by Beauford Mullins, <br />Fort Wayne, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />131d - $20,375.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bid was referred to Mr. Decker, <br />Director, Division of Transportation, for review and recommendation. <br />HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3391 <br />This being the date set for holding a hearing on the Assessment- Roll for <br />Vacation Resolution No. 3391, 1974, hearing was held for the vacation of <br />the east -west alley running between Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5 in Kuntsman's 2nd <br />Addition to the original plat of South Bend, from the east right-of-way <br />line of Scott Street east to the first north -south cross alley, City of <br />South Bend. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News on March 15, 22 and 29, 1974, which <br />were found to be sufficient. <br />No remonstrators.appeared and no written. remonstrances having been received, <br />upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Assessment Roll showing no <br />net damages and no net benefits was approved as adopted and said resolution <br />is in all things ratified and confirmed and said proceedings closed. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />101 <br />
