REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 8, 1974 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, <br />April 8, 1974 with all members present City Attorney James A. Roemer was <br />also present.. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />NOTICE OF CLOSING OF SIDEWALK ON SOUTH MI.CHIGAN STREET FOR ONE DAY <br />Mr. Charles F. Lennon, Jr., Director, Community Development Department, informed <br />the Board that: the sidewalk in front of the St. Joseph Bank -Building on South <br />Michigan Street was closed at 8:00 a.m. tcday and pedestrians are being rerouted <br />around the sidewalk. The walk will be closed about 24 hours. <br />REQUEST TO SEND VEHICLES TO ROC.HESTER TORNADO -DAMAGED AREA <br />Mr. Donald Decker, Director, Division of Transportation, appeared before the Board <br />and requested permission to send four dump trucks and a front end loader from his <br />Department and a cherry picker and winch truck from the Park Department to the <br />Rochester area, damaged in the tornado last week. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board approved Mr. Decker's request. <br />Mr. Seitz reported that men from his Department went to the Montic.ellc area on <br />their own time and worked two days last week -end clearing debris. He said the <br />people in Monticello were most appreciative. This was strictly a voluntary action <br />on the part of the Park Department employees.. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - MEADOWVIEW SEWER PROJECT <br />This being the date set, bids were opened for the Meadowview Sewer Project. The <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />Bradberry Brothers Bid was signed by W. 1. Bradberry, <br />South Bend, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $563,200.50 <br />Bartolini Excavating Co. <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />Bid - $66,963.00 <br />DeWulf Mechanical Contractors, Inc. <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />Bid - $69,885.00 <br />Bid was signed by D. J. Bartolini, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid was signed by Henry DeWulf, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />Dye Plumbing & Heating Co. Bid was signed by Charles T. Dye, <br />LaPorte, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $ 55,812.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Bureau of <br />Design and Administration for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - DEMOLITION OF OLIVER GENERATING STATION <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the demolition of the Oliver <br />Generating Station. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the <br />South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County news which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Tony Tomich & Sons, Inc. Bid was signed by Tony Tomich, non-. <br />Joliet, Illinois collusion affidavit was in order and <br />a certified check in the amount of $3000.00 <br />accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $40,400. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bid was referred to the Bureau <br />of Engineering for review and recommendation. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
