32 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 4, 1974 <br />Notice of this Resolution shall be published on the 8th and 15th day of <br />March, 1974 in the South Bend Tribune and in the Tri-County News. <br />This Board, at its office, on the 1st day of April, 1974 at 9:30 o'clock A.M. <br />will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected <br />by these proceedings. <br />Adopted this 4th day of March, 1974. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/ Rollin E. Barcome <br />ATTEST: <br />s/ Patricia DeClercq, Clerk <br />RECOMMENDATION FROM BUREAU OF ENGINEERING RE: PETITION OF CHARLES BURKHART <br />TO VACATE ALLEY NORTH OF MISHAWAKA AVENUE <br />The Board received a recommendation from the Bureau of Engineering that they <br />have reviewed the petition of Charles Burkhart to vacate.the alley.north of <br />Mishawaka Avenue between Emerson Avenue and the Grank Trunk Western Railroad <br />and have no objection to the vacation. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the recommendation was ordered filed and the petition was referred to the Area <br />Plan Commission for their investigation and recommendation. <br />LETTER FROM CHARLES.HOWELL RE: 917 N. HILL STREET <br />Mr. Charles Howell wrote to the Board regarding his recent purchase of 917 N. <br />Hill Street from the City of South Bend. Mr. Howell's letter was read. Mr. <br />Howell was present and explained to the Board that he bid on and thought he <br />had purchased this entire lot but has now discovered that the purchase is only <br />for the back part of the lot on the alley and HUD has said he cannot build <br />on that portion of the lot. Mr. Howell said he has obtained the name of the <br />owner of the front portion of the lot and is negotiating for the purchase of <br />that part. He will also have to demolish an existing house on the lot. He asked <br />the Board to consider giving him some kind of rebate since he paid $1315 for just <br />a portion of the lot. Mr. Barcome made a motion that this matter be referred <br />to the City Attorney's Office for review and a recommendation as to what action <br />should be taken. <br />APPROVAL OF ST. JOSEPH RIVER RUN <br />The Board received a report from Clem A. Hazinski, Manager of the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting, that he has reviewed the request of the Michiana Watershed, <br />Inc. to hold their 4th Annual St. Joseph River Run on Saturday, May 11, 1974. <br />Mr. Hazinski noted that this affair has been held in the past with no problems, <br />and he recommended approval. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board <br />approved the Annual River Run. <br />RATE INCREASE FILED - SOUTH BEND PARKING COMPANY <br />The Board received a notice from the South Bend Parking Company, Inc. that they <br />are making a rate change at their lot at 225 West Washington Street, Lot #23. <br />The new rate schedule will be as follows: <br />Up to one hour 50� <br />Two Hours 75t <br />Maximum -All Day 1.00 <br />Evening Rate (After 5:30 p.m.) 5U <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the notice was ordered filed. <br />
