1f
REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 11, 1974
VACATION RESOLUTION PROCEDURES
Mr. Roemer discussed with the Board the procedures used to notify other
governmental agencies, particularly the Portage Township Assessor's Office,
when a street or alley is vacated. Mr. Roemer noted there were two instances
where street vacations were not put on the property tax rolls. Mr. Roemer
then suggested that the entire vacation file be reviewed to see whether there
are other cases where vacated property has not been assessed to the benefiting
property owner. A legal interne will be assigned to work with the Clerk of the
Board to research the matter of notification to the Assessor's office,
beginning with the current file and working back to 1960. Mr. Roemer will
report to the Board on March 4, 1974 on his findings and will make recommendations
on any needed changes in procedures being followed. Mr. Roemer also suggested
that the Board request a report from the Portage Township Assessor's Office in
regard to the two vacated properties in question, one being 192 feet of Madison
Street vacated in 1962 and one being a part of Franklin Street, vacated in 1969,
to determine whether these properties have now been put on the tax rolls.
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon motion made,
seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned at 10:06 a.m.
O
111
CC
ollin E.
