REGULAR MEETING
SEPTEMBER 27, 1976
KENT KASER & ASSOCIATES, INC CONTRACT FOR DESIGN OF CURBS
A contract with Kent Kaser & Associates, Inc. for design of
curbs in five locations was presented to the Board. The
locations are: Intersection of Ford Street and Walnut Street,,
Dubail Street from High Street to Dale Street, High Street
from Sample Street to Ewing Avenue, Scott Street from Western
Avenue to Washington Avenue and St. Vincent Street from St
Louis Street to Lawrence Avenue. A recommendation was received
from Rollin Farrand stating that because of staff work load,
vacancies in certain positions and the desire to have the
designs ready for construction at an early date, it is not
possible for the staff of the engineering department to
complete the work in house. Mr. Farrand negotiated with Mr.
Kaser and arrived at a price of $12,500 for the work.. Mr.
Farrand's recommendation stated he believes the fee is reasonable
for the scope of work proposed and funds are available. Upon
motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried,
the contract with Kent Kaser & Associates, Inc. was approved.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS - COLUMBUS DAY MARCH APPROVED
The Board received a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager
of -the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, stating that Bureau has
reviewed the request from the Knights of Columbus for a march
from their hall at 815 North Michigan to the monument of the
County Court House Complex on October 12, 1976 at 11:30 a.m.
The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, in conjunction with the review
by the Police Department, concur and recommends approval. Upon
motion made by Mr. Brunner, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried,
the Knights of Columbus request for a march was approved.
CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE FILED - CUSTOM MOORE TREE EXPERTS, INC.
A Certificate of Insurance on behalf of Custom Moore Tree Experts,
Inc. was submitted to the Board. Deputy.City Attorney Georgia
Luks reviewed the certificate and recommended that it be filed
with the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by
Per. Brunner and carried, the certificate was ordered filed.
TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED
Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting,
recommended the following installations to the Board:
1. Yield sign on Sunnyside at Emerson
2. Stop Sign on Kaley at Linden
Upon motion made by Mr. Brunner, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried,
the installations were approved.
REQUEST FOR HOLIDAY PARADE
Ron Bock, Director of River Bend Plaza, presented to the Board
a request for the traditional Holiday Parade on November 20, 1976
from 9:30 a.m, to 10:15 a.m. The location or route of the parade
will be limited to Michigan Avenue from Colfax to Western Avenue;
after the promenade, individual vignettes will be presented in
specified locations by groups that will be involved. They are
requesting to try this type of parade to cut down on manpower
that will be needed from Traffic and Police Departments. Mr.
Bock was present and informed the Board that there would be
music, food and reindeer on the plaza. He said this is not actually
a parade but more like a circus or ethnic festival atmosphere.
There will be a band but it will be stationary. Upon motion made
by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. .Brunner and carried, the request
for a Holiday Parade was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and
Lighting for review and recommendation.
1
