REGULAR HEETING SEPTEMBER 27, 1976 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m, on Monday, September.27, 1976 with Mr. Mullen and Mr. Brunner present. Deputy.City.Attorney Georgia Luks was also present. 14INUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING APPROVED Mr. Mullen moved that the minutes from the special meeting held on Friday, September 24, 1976, to approve the Teamsters Contract, be approved. Mr. Mullen had reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting of September 20, 1976. Mr. Brunner did not attend that meeting so approval of the minutes was continued until next Monday, when Mr. Farrand would be present. EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY TO JAMES 1.4ARCHELE14ICZ FAMILY On behalf of the Board of Public Works Mr. Mullen expressed sympathy to the family of James Marchelewicz who died of a heart attack on September 26, 1976. Mr. Marchelewicz worked for WNDU.Television station and had attended many of the Board of Public Works meetings to televise them. OPENING OF BIDS - LIQUID CALCIUM CHLORIDE This was the date set for receiving bids for 100,000 gallons of liquid calcium chloride. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication e-+ of notice in the South Bend Tribune.and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bid was opened and publicly read: Orbie of Illiana, Inc. Bid was signed by Ed Otten, Crawfordsville, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 10% bid bond ac- companied the bid. Bid - 100,000 gallons 32% Liquid Calcium Chloride, $18,500 This was the only bid received. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the bid was referred to the Bureau of Streets for review and recommendation. " OPENING OF BIDS - 10,000 TONS SALT This was the date set for receiving bids for 10,000 tons of salt for snow and ice control. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: International Salt Company Bid was signed by Barbara A. Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania Henshaw, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a certified check in the amount,of $16,290 accom- panied the bid. Bid - Rock Salt, 10,000 tons, $162,900 Morton Salt Company Bid was signed by Carl Landgren, Detroit, Michigan non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 10% bid bond accom- panied the bid. Bid - 10,000 tons or less, Morton Safe-T-Salt - $158,000 Diamond Crystal Salt Company St. Clair, Michigan Bid - 10,000 tons rock salt - $157,000 Bid was signed by B. G. Jordan, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 10% bid bond accom- panied the bid.
