REGULAR HEETING SEPTEMBER 27, 1976 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m, on Monday, September.27, 1976 with Mr. Mullen and Mr. <br />Brunner present. Deputy.City.Attorney Georgia Luks was also present. <br />14INUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Mullen moved that the minutes from the special meeting held on <br />Friday, September 24, 1976, to approve the Teamsters Contract, be <br />approved. Mr. Mullen had reviewed the minutes of the previous <br />meeting of September 20, 1976. Mr. Brunner did not attend that <br />meeting so approval of the minutes was continued until next Monday, <br />when Mr. Farrand would be present. <br />EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY TO JAMES 1.4ARCHELE14ICZ FAMILY <br />On behalf of the Board of Public Works Mr. Mullen expressed sympathy <br />to the family of James Marchelewicz who died of a heart attack on <br />September 26, 1976. Mr. Marchelewicz worked for WNDU.Television <br />station and had attended many of the Board of Public Works meetings <br />to televise them. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - LIQUID CALCIUM CHLORIDE <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for 100,000 gallons of <br />liquid calcium chloride. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />e-+ of notice in the South Bend Tribune.and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bid was opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Orbie of Illiana, Inc. Bid was signed by Ed Otten, <br />Crawfordsville, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond ac- <br />companied the bid. <br />Bid - 100,000 gallons 32% Liquid Calcium Chloride, $18,500 <br />This was the only bid received. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the bid was referred to the <br />Bureau of Streets for review and recommendation. <br />" OPENING OF BIDS - 10,000 TONS SALT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for 10,000 tons of salt <br />for snow and ice control. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />International Salt Company Bid was signed by Barbara A. <br />Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania Henshaw, non -collusion affidavit <br />was in order and a certified check <br />in the amount,of $16,290 accom- <br />panied the bid. <br />Bid - Rock Salt, 10,000 tons, $162,900 <br />Morton Salt Company Bid was signed by Carl Landgren, <br />Detroit, Michigan non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond accom- <br />panied the bid. <br />Bid - 10,000 tons or less, Morton Safe-T-Salt - $158,000 <br />Diamond Crystal Salt Company <br />St. Clair, Michigan <br />Bid - 10,000 tons rock salt - $157,000 <br />Bid was signed by B. G. Jordan, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond accom- <br />panied the bid. <br />
