`oo <br />x I <'J <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 13, 1976 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m, on Monday, September 13, 1976 by President Rollin E. <br />Farrand with Mr. Farrand and Mr. Brunner present. Deputy City <br />Attorney Georgia Luks was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS APPROVED <br />Mr. Brunner noted that he had reviewed the minutes of the meeting <br />of September 7, 1976 and he made a motion that the minutes be approved <br />as submitted. Mr. Farrand seconded the motion and it carried. <br />Mr. Farrand announced that a special meeting was held on Wednesday, <br />September 8, 1976 concerning the realignment of responsibility for <br />the Bureau of Cemeteries. He made a motion that the minutes of <br />the special meeting be.approved as submitted. Mr. Brunner seconded <br />the motion and it carried. <br />MR. MULLEN JOINS MEETING <br />City Controller Peter H. Mullen joined the meeting at 9:35 a.m. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON ASSESS14ENT ROLL CREST MANOR SEWERS <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the Assessment Roll <br />et- for the Crest Manor Sanitary Sewers, Sections 1 and 2 on Abshire, <br />Raleigh and Miami Streets, authorized under Improvement Resolution <br />No. 3420, 1975. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. 11.r. Farrand noted that this is a <br />Barrett Law sewer project and the purpose of the hearing is to hear <br />any property owner who might wish to discuss the matter of the <br />assessment against his property. He asked if there was anyone present <br />who wished to speak. There was no one present to speak and no written <br />comments were received by the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved Assessment <br />Roll No. 2980 for the Crest Manor Sections 1 and 2 Sanitary Sewers. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - HOISTS, BUREAU OF VEHICLE MAINTENANCE <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for two hoists for the. <br />Bureau of Vehicle Maintenance. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />The Ridge Company Bid was signed by Howard Goodhew, <br />South Bend, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - Two Hoists, Labor and Installation - $4,524.86. <br />This was the only bid received. Mr. Farrand said Mr. Meehan, Manager <br />of the Bureau of Vehicle Maintenance, would like to review the bid <br />at this time and make a recommendation to.the Board this morning. <br />The bid was taken under advisement until Mr. Meehan submits a <br />recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - TURNOUT COATS AND BUNKER TROUSERS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for turnout coats and <br />bunker trousers for the Fire Department. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened <br />and publicly read: <br />Hoosier Fire Equipment Co. Bid was signed by Nick D. Swartz, <br />Valparaiso, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid(- $4,119.50. Unit prices were listed for the items listed <br />in the specifications. <br />
