J" <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 23, 1976 <br />request to block Manitou Place on September 8, 1976 for a Block <br />Party on -September 8. Upon motion made.by Mr. Farrand, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried; the request was referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHTS <br />Councilman Robert Taylor requested the the Board consider the <br />installation of street lights at 4834 Hamilton Court and 3621 <br />Whitcomb Avenue. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the requests were referred to the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting for review and to be placed on the <br />chronological list of installations to be made when funds are <br />available. <br />RECOMMENDATION FROM AREA PLAN COMMISSION RE: PETITION TO VACATE <br />NORTH -SOUTH ALLEY RUNNING SOUTH FROM CALVERT STREET <br />The Board received a report from the Area Plan Commission that <br />a public hearing was held on the petition of.Fabricated Steel <br />Products to vacate the north -south alley running south from <br />Calvert Street and approximately 100 feet west of Main Street. <br />The Plan Commission recommended the petition favorably to the <br />Board of Public Works. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded <br />�- by Mr. Brunner and carried, the recommendation was filed and <br />C the petition referred to the Bureau of Engineering for preparation <br />�-+ of the Vacation Resolution. <br />RECOMMENDATION.FROM AREA PLAN_COMMISSION RE: PETITION_ TO. VACATE <br />NORTH -SOUTH ALLEY BETWEEN PORTAGE AND ANDERSON <br />The Board received a report from the Area Plan Commission that <br />a public hearing was held on the petition of LaSalle, Inc. to <br />vacate the north -south alley between Portage.Avenue and Anderson <br />Street from Kinyon Street to Bulla Street. The Plan Commission <br />recommended the vacation favorably to the Board of Public Works. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the recommendation was ordered filed and the petition was <br />referred to the Bureau of Engineering for preparation of the <br />Vacation Resolution. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA ACTIVITIES APPROVED <br />Ronald Bock, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted to the Board <br />requests to hold the following activities on the Plaza and made <br />a favorable recommendation on the events: <br />1. Summer Evening Theater performance on Thursday,. August 26 <br />at 7:00 p.m. <br />2. Beer Can Trading Session on September 11 from 11:00 a.m, to <br />2:00 p.m. <br />3. Motorcycle Jamboree - Display of Motorcycles and Accessories <br />on September 11. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the requests were approved. <br />REQUEST FOR CONTINENTAL WALK FOR DISARMAMENT AND SOCIAL JUSTICE <br />The Board received a request from Ray Hernandez, GlendaRae <br />Hernandez and Marece Neagu to hold a Continental Walk for Disarmament <br />and Social Justice on Wednesday, September 1, 1976 beginning at <br />4 or 5 p.m. at the City Limits on U. S. 20 West and marching to <br />River Bend Plaza where a program would be held. A band would be <br />used at various points along the route and on the Plaza. On Friday, <br />
