e3 8 £' REGULAR I- EET I14G AUGUST 16, 1976 A regular meeting of .the Board of Public Works was convened on Monday, August 16, 1976 at 1:30 p.m. by President Rollin Farrand with Mr. Farrand and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City Attorney W. Gaylen Allsop was also present. OPENING OF BIDS - FIRE DEPARTMENT'PUMPER This was the date set for receiving bids for a 1250 GPM Pumper for the Fire Department.. The, Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and in the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Ward LaFrance Bid was signed by Nick D. Swartz, Elmira, New York non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 10% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid - $63,298. Delivery, immediate. If optional equipment is ordered, delivery in forty-five days. FMC Corporation Carmel, Indiana Bid was signed by D. A. Harris and Robert Hawk, non-collusion r affidavit was in order and a 10% bid bond accompanied the bid. --I Bid - Apparatus and Accessories - $31,967 Chassis 31,241 $63,208 Delivery, ninety to one -hundred and eighty days. Midwest Fire & Safety Equipment Co. Bid was signed by Robert F. Casse, Indianapolis, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 10% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid - $59,949. Delivery Date - October 20 Michiana Mack Bid was signed by Ronald Delcamp, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 10;10 bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid - $68,594 Delivery Date - Immediate Delivery Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the bids were referred to Chief Snider for review and recommendation. REQUEST TO CLOSE CHAPIN STREET FOR FUN FAIR APPROVED The Board received a request from Ed Jerzak on behalf of Our Lady of Hungary Church to block Chapin Street, from Calvert to Bruce Street, on Saturday, Aug. 21 from 12:00 noon to midnight for an Annual Fun Fair. Mr. Farrand noted that this affair has been held in the past with no problems. A Certificate of Insurance has been filed with the Board. Mr. Jerzak said there is slurry sealing activity in the area and asked that the streets involved in this closing not be slurry sealed on Thursday or Friday. Mr. Farrand suggested that Mr. Jerzak check with the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting to, check this: and coordinate the closing. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the closing of Chapin Street, from Calvert to Bruce, was approved, subject to coordination by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department.
