e3 8 £' <br />REGULAR I- EET I14G <br />AUGUST 16, 1976 <br />A regular meeting of .the Board of Public Works was convened on <br />Monday, August 16, 1976 at 1:30 p.m. <br />by President Rollin Farrand <br />with Mr. Farrand and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City Attorney <br />W. Gaylen Allsop was also present. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - FIRE DEPARTMENT'PUMPER <br />This was the date set for receiving <br />bids for a 1250 GPM Pumper <br />for the Fire Department.. The, Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and in the Tri-County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened <br />and publicly read: <br />Ward LaFrance <br />Bid was signed by Nick D. Swartz, <br />Elmira, New York <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond <br />accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $63,298. Delivery, immediate. <br />If optional equipment is <br />ordered, delivery in forty-five days. <br />FMC Corporation <br />Carmel, Indiana <br />Bid was signed by D. A. Harris <br />and Robert Hawk, non-collusion <br />r <br />affidavit was in order and a 10% <br />bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />--I <br />Bid - Apparatus and Accessories - $31,967 <br />Chassis 31,241 <br />$63,208 <br />Delivery, ninety to one -hundred and <br />eighty days. <br />Midwest Fire & Safety Equipment Co. <br />Bid was signed by Robert F. Casse, <br />Indianapolis, Indiana <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond <br />accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $59,949. <br />Delivery Date - October 20 <br />Michiana Mack <br />Bid was signed by Ronald Delcamp, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10;10 bid bond <br />accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - $68,594 <br />Delivery Date - Immediate Delivery <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the bids were referred to Chief Snider for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE CHAPIN STREET FOR FUN FAIR APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Ed Jerzak on behalf of Our Lady <br />of Hungary Church to block Chapin Street, from Calvert to Bruce <br />Street, on Saturday, Aug. 21 from 12:00 noon to midnight for an <br />Annual Fun Fair. Mr. Farrand noted that this affair has been held <br />in the past with no problems. A Certificate of Insurance has been <br />filed with the Board. Mr. Jerzak said there is slurry sealing <br />activity in the area and asked that the streets involved in this <br />closing not be slurry sealed on Thursday or Friday. Mr. Farrand <br />suggested that Mr. Jerzak check with the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting to, check this: and coordinate the closing. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the closing <br />of Chapin Street, from Calvert to Bruce, was approved, subject to <br />coordination by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department. <br />
