Mr. Farrand made a motion that the lease <br />be tabled until additional information can be obtained from Mr, <br />Gilkey. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. Mr. Gilkey <br />then appeared and advised the Board that the lot is needed for <br />supervisors and coordinators of the program who have to be in and <br />out of the building. He noted that the lease is only for five weeks. <br />He said there are between fifteen to twenty supervisors and <br />coordinators and they do not know how -long they will remain in the <br />building when they park their vehicles. He said the lot would be <br />patrolled and only CETA personnel would be allowed to park. Mr. <br />Farrand made a motion to rescind the motion to table the lease and <br />to approve the lease with the Department of Redevelopment for a <br />lot at 320 S. Michigan Street from July 19 through August 31, 1976. <br />Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHTS <br />The Board received a request from Mrs. Peter D'Eletto for street <br />light installation in Kensington Farms, on Riding Mall Drive and <br />Gotham Drive and a request from Mrs. A. C. Kochanowski for a street <br />light at the alley intersection south of 1802 E. Ewing. Mx, Farrand <br />noted that at the present time there are no funds available for <br />installation of additional lighting but he said the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting is compiling a -list of locations for installation if <br />money becomes available. Mr. Farrand made a motion that the requests <br />be filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for <br />review and possible inclusion on proposed new installations when <br />funds become available. <br />REQUEST FOR STOP SIGNS ON ROCKNE DRIVE RECEIVED <br />Councilman Roger Parent requested that the Board investigate a <br />traffic problem in Edison Park on Rockne Drive, where there is a <br />need for stop signs. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by <br />Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. It was noted <br />that a copy of the letter had been sent to Chief Michael Borkowski, <br />REQUEST TO GRADE AND OIL ALLEYS IN SOUTHEAST AREA RECEIVED <br />The Board received a letter from R. Benjamin Johnson asking that <br />action be taken to grade and oil the alleys in the southeast area <br />of South Bend. Mr. Johnson said the alleys are in poor condition <br />and need attention. Mr. Brunner asked what City policy is regarding <br />alley maintenance. Mr.- Farrand said the City does this rather <br />extensively and the Bureau of Streets could advise the Board in which <br />sections of the City they are presently operating and how this request <br />could be handled. Mr. Farrand then made a motion that the request <br />be filed and referred to the Bureau of Streets for their review and <br />a recommendation as to appropriate action. <br />
