REGULAR.MEETING JUNE 14, 1976
PARKING METED. CHANGES APPROVED,
Ralph J. Wadzinski Manager of the Bureau.of Traffic and
Lighting, recommended.to the Board'tfie following parking meter
changes:
1. Change meter,#1 on 200 North Main Street (first meter on
the west side of Main, north of Colfax) from a one hour
to a 12 minute meter.
2. Remove meter #1 on 100 North Main (first meter on the
west side of Main, north of Washington) and install two
12 minute meters.
3. Replace meter #6 on 100 W. Jefferson (first meter west of
mid -block alley) from a one hour meter to a 12 minute meter.
Mr. Waclz'inski indicated these changes were made following requests
from area merchants for green curb installations. There was a
discussion regarding the number of twelve -minute meters presently
in existence. Mr. Farrand said Mr. Wadzinski could supply the
Board with the number of twelve -minute meters. It was noted that
these meters require a deposit of one cent for the twelve minutes.
It was suggested that a change in the rate might be considered,
possibly twelve minutes for a nickel. Upon motion made by Mr.
Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the recommendation
for meter changes was approved and the Board requested that Mr.
Wadzinski be asked to report to them on the number of twelve -
minute meters now in operation.
TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED
'Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting,
submitted to the Board requests for installation of the following
traffic control devices:
A. Revise Yield Sign to Stop Sign at the northwest corner of
Garden Lane at Sample Street.
B. Revise Yield Sign to Stop Sign, Northwest corner of Parkway
at Sample.
C. Revise Yield Signs to Stop Signs on Birchwood at Sample
D. Revise Yield Sign to Stop Sign, southeast corner of Fairway
at Sample
E. Revise Yield Sign to Stop Sign, Southeast corner on
Gladstone at Sample
F. Revise Yield Sign to Stop Sign, Southeast corner on Edison
at Sample
The recommendation noted that these changes are required because
of inadequate sight distance. Mr. Brunner asked if this was the
same situation as the requests of last week where high shrubbery
caused a visibility problem. Mr. Wadzinski explained that these
installations are all in the are of Belleville Park but are not
just caused by shrubbery, but a combination of fences, trees, hedges,
shrubs, etc. which were, in some cases, small when put in by the
developer but are now big enough to diminish sight. Mr. Farrand
said he would request that the area be checked for any zoning
violations by the Building Department. Upon motion made by Mr.
Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the traffic control
devices listed above were approved and the Building Department will
be asked to check the area for any zoning violations.
