REGULAR MEETING MAY 24, 1976 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works wasconvenedat <br />9:30 a.m, on Monday, May 24, 1976 by President Rollin Farrand, with <br />Mr. Farrand, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City Attorney <br />William Stanley was also present. Mr. Brunner introduced Georgia <br />Luks to the Board and noted that'she will be the Deputy City Attorney <br />assigned to the Board of,Public Works to replace Mr. Stanley, who is <br />resigning. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Farrand noted that the minutes of the May 17 meeting of the <br />Board had been reviewed and he made a motion that they be accepted as <br />submitted. The motion was seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried. <br />Mr. Farrand reported that a special meeting was held on Tuesday, May <br />18, 1976 to approve an agreement with the Indiana State Highway <br />Commission for improvements at 16 intersections. Mr. Farrand said <br />he had reviewed the minutes of the special meeting and he <br />recommended approval as submitted. The motion was seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT BICYCLE AUCTION APPROVED <br />Chief Michael Borkowski requested permission of the Board to hold <br />an auction of unclaimed bicycles by the Police Department,on <br />Saturday, June 5, 1976 at 1:00 p.m, at the Colfax Parking Garage. <br />Proceeds from the sale will go into the Police Pension Fund as <br />provided by state statute. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded <br />by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was approved. <br />AUCTION OF UNCLAIMED PROPERTY APPROVED <br />Chief Michael Borkowski requested permission of the Board to hold <br />an auction of*unclaimed property other than bicycles, which has been <br />held by the Police Department for more than six months. The sale would <br />be held at the Colfax Parking Garage on Saturday, June 5, 1967 <br />immediately following the bicycle auction. Receipts from this auction <br />would be deposited in the City General Fund. Mr. Mullen asked what <br />kinds of property were involved and Chief Terry said anything which <br />has been turned over to the Police Department as found or stolen which <br />has not been claimed. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was approved. <br />NOTIFICATION OF VEHICLE TRANSFERS <br />Chief Michael Borkowski submitted to the Board the following list of <br />changes to be made on the Police Department vehicle list, reflecting <br />new cars and cars from the Police Department inventory which are to <br />be reassigned. Mechanical #677 and 695 have been transferred to the <br />Board of Public Works and should be removed from the Police Department <br />inventory. Mechanical #633, 638, 675, 678, 695, 725, 726, 727, 728 <br />and 729 have been assigned to new cars purchased. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried,•the letter was <br />ordered filed. <br />REQUEST TO BLOCK 600 BLOCK W. LA SALLE ON JUNE 12 RECEIVED <br />The Board received a request from the Combined Democratic and Civic <br />Club of St. Joseph County to block the 600 block W. LaSalle Street <br />on Saturday, June 12 from 4:00 p.m, to 6:30 p.m. The Indiana <br />Conference on Black Politics will be held that day and, following <br />the meeting, a reception and cook -out will be held at 620 W. LaSalle. <br />Chief Borkowski transmitted the request to the Board with his <br />report that he had reviewed the request and could foresee no problems. <br />Sgt. Edward Scott of the Police Department will be in charge of <br />security. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />I� <br />
