REGULAR MEETING MAY 24, 1976 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works wasconvenedat 9:30 a.m, on Monday, May 24, 1976 by President Rollin Farrand, with Mr. Farrand, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City Attorney William Stanley was also present. Mr. Brunner introduced Georgia Luks to the Board and noted that'she will be the Deputy City Attorney assigned to the Board of,Public Works to replace Mr. Stanley, who is resigning. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Mr. Farrand noted that the minutes of the May 17 meeting of the Board had been reviewed and he made a motion that they be accepted as submitted. The motion was seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried. Mr. Farrand reported that a special meeting was held on Tuesday, May 18, 1976 to approve an agreement with the Indiana State Highway Commission for improvements at 16 intersections. Mr. Farrand said he had reviewed the minutes of the special meeting and he recommended approval as submitted. The motion was seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, POLICE DEPARTMENT BICYCLE AUCTION APPROVED Chief Michael Borkowski requested permission of the Board to hold an auction of unclaimed bicycles by the Police Department,on Saturday, June 5, 1976 at 1:00 p.m, at the Colfax Parking Garage. Proceeds from the sale will go into the Police Pension Fund as provided by state statute. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was approved. AUCTION OF UNCLAIMED PROPERTY APPROVED Chief Michael Borkowski requested permission of the Board to hold an auction of*unclaimed property other than bicycles, which has been held by the Police Department for more than six months. The sale would be held at the Colfax Parking Garage on Saturday, June 5, 1967 immediately following the bicycle auction. Receipts from this auction would be deposited in the City General Fund. Mr. Mullen asked what kinds of property were involved and Chief Terry said anything which has been turned over to the Police Department as found or stolen which has not been claimed. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was approved. NOTIFICATION OF VEHICLE TRANSFERS Chief Michael Borkowski submitted to the Board the following list of changes to be made on the Police Department vehicle list, reflecting new cars and cars from the Police Department inventory which are to be reassigned. Mechanical #677 and 695 have been transferred to the Board of Public Works and should be removed from the Police Department inventory. Mechanical #633, 638, 675, 678, 695, 725, 726, 727, 728 and 729 have been assigned to new cars purchased. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried,•the letter was ordered filed. REQUEST TO BLOCK 600 BLOCK W. LA SALLE ON JUNE 12 RECEIVED The Board received a request from the Combined Democratic and Civic Club of St. Joseph County to block the 600 block W. LaSalle Street on Saturday, June 12 from 4:00 p.m, to 6:30 p.m. The Indiana Conference on Black Politics will be held that day and, following the meeting, a reception and cook -out will be held at 620 W. LaSalle. Chief Borkowski transmitted the request to the Board with his report that he had reviewed the request and could foresee no problems. Sgt. Edward Scott of the Police Department will be in charge of security. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. I�
