223 <br />REGULAR MEETING MARCH 11, 1976 <br />APPROVAL OF TP.AFFIC CONTROL,DEVICES <br />Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />recommended the following installations to the Board. <br />A. No Parking,'north side of Westmoor Street from Bendix Drive <br />west. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the installation was approved. <br />B. No Parking Zone on the north side of the 700 block East <br />Madison Street, at the request of the Fire Department. <br />Upon motion made,by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Per. Mullen <br />and carried, the installation was approved. <br />C. Two hour parking zone at 2910 Mishawaka Avenue in.a presently <br />unrestricted zone to allow turnover in parking for local <br />businesses. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the installation was approved. <br />D. No Parking, Passenger Loading Zone at 2910 Western Avenue <br />for loading and unloading of passengers at the Older Adults <br />Center. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the installation was approved. <br />., REQUEST FOP. OPEN AIR STAND DENIED <br />Doyle Allison submitted a request to the Board to operate an Open <br />J Air Stand at 405 E. Ireland Road, on the Burger Chef Parking Lot, <br />to sell meat from a refrigerated truck. Permission of the property <br />owner, Burger Chef, was attached. Mr. Mullen questioned the <br />advisability of licensing an operation for the sale of meat. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />application was denied. <br />RESPONSE FROM SENATOR BIRCH BAYH REGARDING PENN CENTRAL CROSSINGS <br />The following letter was read from Senator Bayh: <br />"Thank you very much for your recent letter regarding <br />the Penn Central crossings in South Bend. <br />I am contacting Penn Central to request additional <br />information regarding this.matter and will contact <br />you again as soon as a response has been received. <br />In the meantime, do not hesitate to let me have your <br />further comments. <br />I appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance to you. <br />Sincerely, <br />s/ Birch Bayh <br />United -States Senator " <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the letter was ordered filed. Mr. Farrand noted that <br />he has received another letter regarding the Penn.Central Railroad <br />and will forward it to Senator Bayh, Senator Hartke and Congressman <br />Brademas. <br />BONDS APPROVED <br />Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, reported to the Board that <br />the following bonds were properly executed and could be approved: <br />Contractor's Bond for Leonard Geans to 3/29/77 <br />Excavation Bond for Creed's Excavating Company to 4/20/77 <br />Contractor's Bond for Paul Junior Jones to 1/1/77 <br />Excavation Bond for Paul Junior Jones to 1/1/77 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the bonds were approved to the dates listed. <br />
