192 REGULAR MEETING TA`7I LICENSE APPROVED, STAN"Y WAUMAN` JANUARY 26, 1976 The hearing on the denial of a taxi license for Stanlev Waumans was continued until this date to allow for receipt of letters of reference requested by the Legal Department. Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski reported to the Board that one letter had been received from a former employer of Mr. Waumans. Miss Cekanski said, based on the information obtained by the Board from Mr. Waumans in the hearing last week and on the letter of reference received, she would recommend that the 'license be granted. Mr. Brunner made,a motion that the request for a taxi license for Stanley Waumans be approved by the Board. The motion was seconded by Mr. Farrand and was carried. ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 2, 1976 - REDUCED RATE IN BICENTENNIAL CAB Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski submitted to the Board a resolution allowing for reduced rate to be charged in two Bicentennial Cabs operated by the Independent Cab Company, upon the request of owner Grady L. Thompson. The resolution was redrafted after a public discussion of this matter was held on January 19 in which the manner of implementing the rate reduction was determined. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLUTION No. 2, 1976 WHEREAS, the general provisions and regulations governing the operation of taxicabs are set forth in the Municipal Code Sections 15-8 through 15-55; and WHEREAS, the mileage rates set forth in Section 15-16 of the Code are maximum amounts permitted; and WHEREAS, a request from Mr. Grady Thompson, owner of the Independent Cab Company, has been received requesting to operate two (2) Bicentennial Cabs at a twenty-five (25) cent reduction on the taximeter fare per passenger per trip, with a maximum of fifty (50) cent reduction per passenger per day, WHEREAS, in the Spirit of.the Nation's Bicentennial such a request would further the 1976 celebration, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board City of South Bend that the two Bicentennial operated by the independent Cab Company post advising the patrons that they are entitled cent reduction from the total shown on the m 1976 calendar year.
