192 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />TA`7I LICENSE APPROVED, STAN"Y WAUMAN` <br />JANUARY 26, 1976 <br />The hearing on the denial of a taxi license for Stanlev Waumans <br />was continued until this date to allow for receipt of letters of <br />reference requested by the Legal Department. Deputy City Attorney <br />Kathleen Cekanski reported to the Board that one letter had been <br />received from a former employer of Mr. Waumans. Miss Cekanski said, <br />based on the information obtained by the Board from Mr. Waumans in <br />the hearing last week and on the letter of reference received, she <br />would recommend that the 'license be granted. Mr. Brunner made,a <br />motion that the request for a taxi license for Stanley Waumans be <br />approved by the Board. The motion was seconded by Mr. Farrand <br />and was carried. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 2, 1976 - REDUCED RATE IN BICENTENNIAL CAB <br />Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski submitted to the Board a <br />resolution allowing for reduced rate to be charged in two <br />Bicentennial Cabs operated by the Independent Cab Company, upon <br />the request of owner Grady L. Thompson. The resolution was redrafted <br />after a public discussion of this matter was held on January 19 in <br />which the manner of implementing the rate reduction was determined. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the following resolution was adopted: <br />RESOLUTION No. 2, 1976 <br />WHEREAS, the general provisions and regulations governing the operation <br />of taxicabs are set forth in the Municipal Code Sections 15-8 through <br />15-55; and <br />WHEREAS, the mileage rates set forth in Section 15-16 of the Code <br />are maximum amounts permitted; and <br />WHEREAS, a request from Mr. Grady Thompson, owner of the Independent <br />Cab Company, has been received requesting to operate two (2) <br />Bicentennial Cabs at a twenty-five (25) cent reduction on the <br />taximeter fare per passenger per trip, with a maximum of fifty (50) <br />cent reduction per passenger per day, <br />WHEREAS, in the Spirit of.the Nation's Bicentennial such a request <br />would further the 1976 celebration, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board <br />City of South Bend that the two Bicentennial <br />operated by the independent Cab Company post <br />advising the patrons that they are entitled <br />cent reduction from the total shown on the m <br />1976 calendar year. <br />Adopted this 26th day of January, 1976. <br />ATTEST: <br />s/ Patricia DeClercq, Clerk <br />Board of Public Works <br />of Public Works of the <br />Taxicabs owned -and <br />a sign in,each taxicab <br />to a twenty-five (25) <br />eter at the end of the <br />THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />s/ Rollin E.
