REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 22, 1975 <br />1 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. <br />on Monday, December 15, 1975 by Chairman Rollin Farrand with allmembers <br />present. Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski was also present. Minutes <br />of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS — CENTURY CENTER CONTRACTS 800 AND 804 <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Contracts 800 and 804 for <br />Century Center, for the Hollow Metal and Finish Hardware. The Clerk tendered <br />proof of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Miller Steel & Supply Co., Inc. Bid was signed by John T. Duffy, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - CC 800 Hollow Metal - $68,975.00 <br />CC 804 Finish Hardware - $55,963.00 <br />Combination Bid - $121,938.00 <br />Clifford & Cole, Inc. <br />Bid - CC800 Hollow Metal - $78,978.00 <br />J. W. Werntz & Son <br />Bid was signed by Michael B. Hirsch <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid was signed by Floyd W. Werntz, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - CC800 Hollow Metal - $179,500.00 <br />CC804 Finish Hardware - $56,200.00 <br />Alternate No. 2 Combined Bid - $234,500.00 <br />Alternate No. 3 Combined Bid- $195,200.00 <br />Builders Enterprise Corporation Bid was signed by Robert Hieber, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid - CC800 Hollow Metal - $175,830.00 <br />CC804 Finish Hardware - $56,587.00 <br />Combination Bid - $229,644.00 <br />Nelson Engineering Sales, Inc. <br />Bid - CC800 Hollow Metal - $96,794.00 <br />G. E. Meyer & Sons <br />Bid - CC804 Finish Hardware - $57,040.00 <br />Bid was signed by Alan E. Nelson, non - <br />collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid was signed by S..Dunnuck, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Bureau <br />of Public Construction for review and recommendation. <br />PUBLIC HEARING CONTINUED - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3419 <br />This was the date set for a continuation of the public hearing on Vacation <br />Resolution No. 3419, 1975 for the vacation of all streets, alleys and lots <br />not previously vacated in the proposed replat of River Bend Addition. Mr. <br />Farrand advised the Board that the Department of Redevelopment was not ready <br />to proceed on this hearing and had requested that the matter be continued. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board continued the public hearing <br />until January 12, 1976. <br />
