REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 22, 1975 1 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 1975 by Chairman Rollin Farrand with allmembers present. Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. OPENING OF BIDS — CENTURY CENTER CONTRACTS 800 AND 804 This was the date set for receiving bids for Contracts 800 and 804 for Century Center, for the Hollow Metal and Finish Hardware. The Clerk tendered proof of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Miller Steel & Supply Co., Inc. Bid was signed by John T. Duffy, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid - CC 800 Hollow Metal - $68,975.00 CC 804 Finish Hardware - $55,963.00 Combination Bid - $121,938.00 Clifford & Cole, Inc. Bid - CC800 Hollow Metal - $78,978.00 J. W. Werntz & Son Bid was signed by Michael B. Hirsch non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid was signed by Floyd W. Werntz, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid - CC800 Hollow Metal - $179,500.00 CC804 Finish Hardware - $56,200.00 Alternate No. 2 Combined Bid - $234,500.00 Alternate No. 3 Combined Bid- $195,200.00 Builders Enterprise Corporation Bid was signed by Robert Hieber, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid - CC800 Hollow Metal - $175,830.00 CC804 Finish Hardware - $56,587.00 Combination Bid - $229,644.00 Nelson Engineering Sales, Inc. Bid - CC800 Hollow Metal - $96,794.00 G. E. Meyer & Sons Bid - CC804 Finish Hardware - $57,040.00 Bid was signed by Alan E. Nelson, non - collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Bid was signed by S..Dunnuck, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Bureau of Public Construction for review and recommendation. PUBLIC HEARING CONTINUED - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3419 This was the date set for a continuation of the public hearing on Vacation Resolution No. 3419, 1975 for the vacation of all streets, alleys and lots not previously vacated in the proposed replat of River Bend Addition. Mr. Farrand advised the Board that the Department of Redevelopment was not ready to proceed on this hearing and had requested that the matter be continued. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board continued the public hearing until January 12, 1976.
