52 <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3419 CONTINUED <br />This was the date set for a continuation of the public hearing on <br />Vacation Resolution No. 3419, 1975 being petitioned by the Department <br />of Redevelopment for the vacation of all streets, alleys and lots <br />not previously vacated in the proposed replat of River Bend Addition. <br />Kevin Butler, Attorney for the Department of Redevelopment, was <br />present and asked the Board for a two -week continuance. Mr. Butler <br />said they have had difficulty getting the signatures of two out-of- <br />town property owners on the petition to vacate. He said as soon as <br />they receive the signatures, they will be ready to proceed. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the Board continued the hearing <br />until December 22, 1975. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATIONS APPROVED <br />An application was received from Paul Colglazier to operate a booth <br />on River Bend Plaza to sell redwood signs from December 8 through <br />31. Mr. Simpson, Director of River Bend Plaza, recommended the <br />application favorably. Mr. Colglazier and Mr. Simpson were present. <br />Mr. Simpson said he planned to put the booth in front of Business <br />Systems, where an electrical hook-up is available. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board approved the application subject to <br />the filing of'liability insurance and the securing of the proper city <br />license. <br />The Salvation. Army requested permission to hold a concert on River <br />Bend Plaza on December 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Douglas <br />Simpson recommended approval. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the request. <br />CHARISMATIC RENEWAL SERVICES APPLICATION TABLED <br />An application was received from Charismatic Renewal Services, Inc. <br />to conduct part of their Conference next May on River Bend Plaza. <br />Mr. Joseph Zakas was present and said they would like to conduct <br />Christian witness services on the Plaza and have box lunches available. <br />They anticipate 6000 participants. Douglas Simpson, Director of <br />River Bend Plaza, advised the Board that he had considered the use of <br />the parking area across from Wyman's for this event if it is approved. <br />It was noted that the date requested for the event is May 29, 1976, <br />which is part of the Memorial Day week -end. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the request was referred to Deputy City Attorney <br />Kathleen Cekanski, Department of Law, and to Rollin Farrand, Director, <br />Department of Public Works, for their review and recommendations to <br />the Board. Mr. Zakas was advised that a report would be made in two <br />weeks. <br />BID AWARDED POLICE DEPARTMENT UNIFORMS <br />The Board received a recommendation from Chief John H. Walsh, Bureau <br />of Police, that the bid for uniforms for 1976 had been reviewed and <br />he was recommending that the bid of Gerber Manufacturing Company be <br />accepted. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board accepted <br />the low and only bid of Gerber Manufacturing Company for police uniforms <br />for 1976. <br />ADOPTION OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3424, 1975 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the following resolution was <br />adopted: <br />VACATION RESOLUTION N0. 3424, 1975 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS of the City of South Bend, Indiana <br />that it is desirable to vacate the following: <br />1 <br />
